Rocky 3 is quite controversial for where it sits in the pecking order of the series, a lot of people think it's the best one - it arguably has the most plausible boxing out of all of them, it's more polished than the first two, it carries fairly substantial emotional beats that work and some of the dialogue writing is really solid. Other than Rocky I think it's my favourite - Rocky [1] has to win by default though for me, even though it's flawed in all sorts of ways, particularly around the boxing, just the story of the movie (as in the behind the scenes stuff and the impact of it) in its own right is so huge for the first one, but I do really like this one - it goes by really fast on a rewatch which is a big clue how good it is; and if you know anything about boxing you're not demanding the referee be banned from refereeing bouts which helps :) Liking this one the best is a perfectly respectable position.
