Season 2's struggles are the same as the game because the story being told in Part 2 is inherently more flawed and complicated than Part 1.

2025-06-04 08:26:25 +0000 UTCThis season was a solid 6/10 for me. The changes from the game felt a little forced. The plot after the major event in episode 2 felt too watered down. I think having Season 3 release in 2026 is a bad thing. Isabella Merced said that they’d rather film sooner than next year. The game letting you play as Abby right after the very last encounter of Season 2 makes a lot more sense than how this adaption ended. Ellie doesn’t transform into the more brutal, unrelenting, morally-more-than-right that she should be. The lack of dog murder in this season makes it all seem a bit tame. I said this the first season too, but the sparseness of the infected was much more notable this season. Did anyone else find the editing was a little weird? As to Bella Ramsey, I think she’s doing the best with what she’s getting. She is provably more than the comedic relief character that she has turned into this season. I think she effectively communicated how Ellie wants revenge, even over saving Tommy, hell, even over saving Dina. It feels like Naughty Dog was a little less hands on this season. I still think Season 3 will have much more of a coherent story line. Season 2 might have just been doomed because of where it ends. Then again, it’s much better than most post apocalyptic shows out there.
