I've seen this movie a bunch and read a bunch of books around it, and it still hurts me in my soul. I'd honestly argue that the fact you don't think this is the movie for you is exactly why it's the perfect movie for you, and if there's nothing you have to say then that's exactly the right thing - sometimes not saying anything sometimes says more than saying something. I know guys like Tom Sizemore's character in this, US mil and other countries', IDK what he did to prepare, but he absolutely nails that character. The absolute gritty but non-hyperbolic but in-your-face all the same bloody realistic violence and not hiding anything is why this is why this is my favourite war movie, and I know a lot of military guys who feel the same. It should be required viewing for anybody planning to join the military, because it is pretty much as close as you can get to an accurate retelling of the worst thing that can happen in a western military in modern combat, and if you can handle that you'll probably do fine. Also, if you learn from mistakes like the ones happened on that day that's what matters. And they have - they'd never run an op like these days. Technologies like drones exist, better communications and so much more - and better tactics - because of things like this. If people don't learn from things like this, that's when you have a very serious problem. Applies outside of war too, FWIW.
