Kristen you're definitely justified in being a little confused by all the new characters and information. I like this movie but they made some very odd adaptation choices. They quickly introduce a lot of exposition and characters that were left out of previous films. Some of this info is completely irrelevant. Bill Weasley for example. I get they had to introduce him because they left him out of 4, 5, and 6 but why does he need to be scarred in the movie, why is he explaining the scars, and why is he even explaining Greyback? This isn't relevant to the movie universe, especially since Greyback isn't even a player in the movies. It's bad writing IMO. They give unnecessary information and then don't explain things they should -- like Harry's mirror shard.

2024-12-27 18:43:43 +0000 UTCOkay, so I wanted to add something! No spoilers, promise!!! But they tried to cut -all- of the house elves out of the later movies. At the time, the book of Deathly Hallows wasn't out yet and so the people working on the films had no idea Dobby or Kreachure would be in that book. They actually tried to cut Kreachure FULLY out of the 5th movie and JK Rowling had to panic step in and tell them not to cut him, giving away the fact that he'd be in the unreleased book. That's likely why the house elf scenes from the other books were cut. The director and writers of the 5th film just didn't think they'd be important.
