The reason why the fight scene between Tom Cruise and Dougary Scott looks so real was they were actually fighting. According to the behind the scenes on the DVD, It was the last day of shooting and had to get the fight down Tom went over to Dougary if he would okay if they did the fight for real. Dougary was up for it and they just beat the hell out of each other with the exception of the stunts they had to set up for the knife and landing on the rocks.
