This is my favorite Mel Brooks movie. The comedy and commentary formed a perfect union. I guess the slapstick works for me because of everything else in the movie and I grew up with it as The Three Stooges was almost always on somewhere back in the early 80's. Young Frankenstein is my 2nd favorite and then 3rd is kind of a tie between History of the World part 1 and Robin Hood. As a kid, Spaceballs was my favorite, but i rewatched it recently and it does not hit like it did for me 15+ years ago, though I still enjoy it.
