"I'm confused". Also, the music of this movie was its biggest point as it just hit the right notes, unfortunately, they could not react to it as we did. Sorry to be so honest but did not enjoy this. Tc guys.

It is because she gets the subtext… she views the content with cultural undertones of Indian content… don’t consume Indian movies.. if you don’t want even want to understand the references while making a living off of the same content. FYI: Most Indian Brides Do Cry at their Weddings ughh 👀. Also, this movie was like a proper musical with the flair stage like drama… where certain scenarios would depict things going on the character’s mind and others might seem OTT at first. 😤

They may have been able to put it in more context but i don't think they would have enjoyed it like we wanted either. Times have changed and a lot about the film didn't make sense to me even in 2004. Even in 2004, i was like, why are they getting married now and not waiting? Even then, i hated the fat shaming. The film is quite cringey tbh and i realised the dialogues are not as well written as other srk films- like veer zaara, rab ne bana Di, ddlj, kkhh... All these films had better, slightly more authentic dialogues.

2023-01-16 11:26:48 +0000 UTCOh Steph! I just wanted to say "I feel you" to every expression and reaction of yours throughout the film (only coz you were like, "whaaat" way more than Syntell). But yeah, this movie is cheesy, with little spurts of racist comments that wouldn't fly today (Chinese, Japanese, Korean, whatever) and some other problematic things like fat shaming and justifying loving an adopted child only bcoz she turned out to be related to you by blood!! Not to mention how Rohit and Aman manipulate Naina and also their often cheap behaviour towards women. Many tacky things too. Oh and also, labelling being heterosexual as "normal". Then again, this was 2004 and India borrows its wokeness from the west anyway so it definitely hadn't reached us here, lol. I was in grade 10 when this film came out and i remember crying buckets in the theater thinking this movie was the best ever. And yeah, what's with marrying like it's her funeral? Why couldn't they postpone the wedding until after everyone had coped a bit? I don't know.... Lol

May have been a better option to have paired with either Jaby or Achara with either of Steph or Syntel. This movie wasnt a good reaction candidate for this pair i think without a good understanding of older Indian movies. Cant blame them either. Unfortunately, they didnt even get the straightforward stuff, was quite frustrating reaction overall for such an emotional movie.
