Will try to answer some questions you had through the movie... "bloody charlie"... This is a British thing left over within the Indian army. it means "bloody fool" "why were the cadet soldiers looking towards young Vikram Bartra as he was going on the motorcycle" ....This is symbolic. They weren't actually looking at him. Vikram Batra felt as though the Indian Army (his dream) is looking at him and asking him if he's really going to give up his dream for Dimple. "...cutting his finger and applying a bit of blood on the forehead..." ... this was the end of 90s. Boys who grew up on cheesy bollywood movies of the 90s know this as irrefutable promise of marrying someone. This is actually done with 'vermilion' and is one custom among many within a hindu wedding ceremony. Search "maang bharai" on google "... You are going 'solo' to kill Haider ..." When the CO asks an officer to 'go' - it always means go take your company and get this mission done. Usually missions take at least 2 to 3 officers and their accompanying fire teams. This time - only one officer and his squad/company - because it was his intel. "... yeh dil maange more ...".. by the end of 90s - Pepsi in India had launched a massive campaign and had the tag-line "yeh dil maange more". It means "The heart wants more". They had roped in the entire cricket team and bollywood biggies like Shahrukh Khan. The impact was immense. Every young man in India knew this tag line and it had a massive following. Vikram Batra choosing this popular yet meaningful line as his victory phrase was an indication towards his personality. His heart was not content in going for that one peak alone. His heart wanted more. In style. During Vikram Batra's TV interview where his lawyer friend asks to increase the TV volume - u will see Pepsi's poster on a wall. This is very accurate. Pepsi's campaign to grab Indian carbonated drinks market was everywhere. "do they have training for this (mountain warfare)". Some were specially skilled in this. To achieve advantage in mountain warfare - you need only few skilled to lead. Rest to follow. "Kargil Battle School" was setup in Dras sector of Kargil District in J&K in 2000 to make regiments posted in J&K more apt to J&K terrain specifically. India also has a specialized High Altitude Warfare School (HAWS) that trains soldiers in Winter and high altitudes. You may be aware of the highest battlefield on earth 'Siachen'... So we cant really afford to be not trained in high altitude warfare. ..."the rope they found while climbing" .... Infiltrators usually send a small team of 2 or 3 highly experienced climbers first - on steep climbs. These 'mountaineers' usually lay down a secured/harnessed rope as they go along to help the rest of the infantry to climb. It is this rope that the climbing team found and hence the dialogue "I think we found our neighbors" - when they found the rope, they basically found the exact route the infiltrators had taken. Later just before attack, they cut this same rope (not communication cable) to avoid enemy reinforcements from their back. "Why Shershah and Sangram coordinate climb on radio" ... They had to attack same time to split the strength of the peak. "...joking like that in the middle of the battlefield..." Yes. You have to keep spirits high. Even though you know you may die any second. Bunker warfare during Kargil war had some instances of intense close quarter combat. Combatants could hear each other. "....how about a medic while Shershah dies..." ... this is for dramatic effect. Shershah had passed away on those high peaks by the time soldiers could pose for photos on the captured peak.

ROHIT RATH

So the dialog that made Jaby think that its a "movie" about Madhuri Dixit isn't fictional. That conversation actually happened during the battle. It is included in the LOC Kargil movie as well, where Abhishek Bacchan is playing Vikram Batra. LOC Kargil is a super detailed movie that kind of tracks the entire war, and dates etc but is too boring to see. Lakshya is more fictional and doesn't track a single character, but still talks about capturing the peaks that Capt Batra captured.
