Podcasting Day: Monster Wars 3 with Napoleon Blownapart 🌭

By the skulled canary panties of Grave Digger, it is still Monster Wars Week! And on the Dogg Zzone 9000, we are talking about monster trucks becoming men and those men becoming legend. We knew we had to get an expert on these 10,000 pound car-crunching beasts, so we booked Napoleon Blownapart on the podcast. He’s an MMA YouTuber from Ireland, a country so without monster trucks he thought we were kidding when we told him what we’d be talking about.

You can listen here! Or wherever you get podcasts. Warning: The episode of Monster Wars we discuss was one where each truck man is given an extra temporary(?) theme and no one is more confused than them.

That was the best closing line for an episode, and it's not even close.

I felt that way when they had Ty Frank (The Expanse) on the Grabowski podcast - I nearly peed myself. Again. That day.

CHAUGGLE

Oh man yes. I grew up on a farm though, so I could sort of understand that

Ever heard of tractor pulling? There's no way to explain it without sounding sarcastic, so it's a sport where tractors pull things. Wikipedia claims it's popular in Europe, "especially the United Kingdom." As someone who lives in the UK, it fucking isn't.

AAAAAAAAAAAAARGH somebody link me to the episode of Monster Wars please, there's lots of it on YouTube but couldn't find this one so far: RAWR! EDIT - found it - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BD02HXkS0rk

So about Highlander, and wrestling. Growing up the wrestling scene in that movie was one of the things that made America seem unreal. How can something like that exist? How can people cheer for it? It did not cross my mind that it was a performance until much later in life. Monster trucks is another thing that made America seem unreal, and seeing clips from those shows was a strange thing. Huge, impossibly impractical cars were exiting to watch as a young boy, but the announcers all sounded like it was serious, and then they zoomed out and I saw the crowds and there was that moment of strangeness. Thousands and thousands of adults watch this? How is this possible? Is that what they do in America? Other things that seemed unreal was Nascar. America was like a different planet back then. It still does.

This is the 21st century; it's time we put away the prejudices that say if an alien is president of eggs they'll be subservient to the Egg Pope.

If it was Steven Seagal week, Napoleon would come on and get his intro and plug, and the rest of the podcast would be with his stunt double - who would either not have an Irish accent at all or only speak full Gaelic.

Skebotron

Is there a word for the feeling you get when two people you follow do a collab and you're left thinking "These two people I know and like know and like each other. Cool."? I was not expecting Napoleon to appear on the Dogg Zzone, and definitely not on this one. Please get him back when you finally do Steven Seagal week.

Matt Edwards

It’s probably too late to make requests, but I would very much like to hear Sissyneck’s views on this week’s topic.

I didn't think anything could top your Power Slap podcast. I literally listened to it twice in a row, like a maniac. But I have to say, Napoleon Blownapart's Power Slap video is a thing of rare beauty and cultured stupidity, the likes of which truly stand up to the Dogg Zzone like few things.

CHAUGGLE

Covered in the limbs of his defeated foes.

LyraV

Oh God you're right!

LyraV

If you think about it, Conan is basically a monster truck.

Pee-Wee's Uncle

I was hoping for Lydia, too. They owe her after the Conan Experience. But this is good, too.

Bonnybedlam

I get that. But they usually ask her to participate when they talk about awesome manly bullshit.

Pee-Wee's Uncle

Lydia is from the midwest. she might be familiar with Monster trucks

DeltaFoxtrot

I'm genuinely shocked that they didn't ask Lydia to do this.
