U said it .. perfect comparison is watching a concert or UFC fight ... South Indian films ARE loud.. it's cuz the audience is loud as they watch films in theatres.

Vin R

Yeah , I had the same experience in Cinemark . High volume makes sense only during the First day First show or atleast the opening day, for a movie involving a big star. Just in case you are not aware, on the opening day of a Rajinikanth movie for example, fans like me scream their throats off (takes 3 days to get your voice back). Release of a new Rajinikanth movie is a festive celebration for fans. To be frank , I miss that in the US Theatres. In the name of decency, I have been forced to suppress my primal urge :) Just a sample, to answer your question, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MHtomFSmb1k

I did not know why you end up watching vivegham. It better if you watched arjun reddy in the theatre. My ears is still hurting after watching vivegham which means speed. The fans where screaming plus sound from the movie. It rock & metal concert experience. The director is shit. The director was taking this film like japan bullet train. Ajith is awesome actor.Ajith is wasteing his time with this stupid director just for box office purpose. It is the director fault. you just went to rock metal concert. It america people crazy for riahhanna, justine bieber, gun & roses, beatles, linkin park and etc. Fan base scream yell South indian on theatre. This is movie is made for fan base. You have peaceful south indian film dvd & blu ray collection their. Drhishyam, charlie, mariyan, vishwaroopam, and a peck on the cheek. Watch film like d-16, maya, jigarthanda, soodhu kavam, pizza, anbe sivam, anniyan, thani oruvan, vip 1 and etc. these movie have less fan base. Malayalam film are great too and director like bala, selvaraghvan, mani ratnam, vetrimaran, and etc.

I understand . Its been like that for generations.Audiences in India, watching Tamil and Telugu movies, are not as quiet as Bollywood or other countries. They yell and scream at the screen through out the movie. I think that's why they make the movies extra loud. I got tinnitus in my right ear watching a south Indian movie in a theater.

Neeraj Krishnan

Hahaha I'm a fan but I've never actually thought of it. I watch a lot of Tamil, Telugu and Hindi movies so I guess I don't really care about it but I just love all the Indian movies.

Luke Davidson

It's alright Jaby. It's natural for a casual Hollywood viewer to experience that. I too personally find South Indian films louder than Bollywood, probably because South Indian cinemas are huge in size and people scream the shit out of themselves throughout the movie which kinda cancels the effect.

Akshay Mahajan

Movies in Phoenix sound fine.. at least for me.. it may be the case that I am used to high volume south indian movies and the base level must have normalized. I can ask others regarding this and get back to you 😁
