It was available for free, on-demand when I first started watching South Park as a kid. 24:54 - Yes, the episode was based on the 2008 WGA strike. They’re one of the unions in Hollywood that represents screenwriters. The strike hurt a lot of people and was a total failure, but the leaders tried to pass it off as a big success. That pissed off Trey and Matt, who subsequently made this episode mocking them. Funny enough, they didn’t have to make a decision about “crossing the picket line” because South Park was in-between seasons at the time, so it did not effect them, or their staff in the slightest.
