Podcasting Day: The Human Tornado 🌭
Added 2021-07-21 12:00:05 +0000 UTCIn 1976, Rudy Ray Moore made the perfect film. He took everything he learned from Dolemite, forgot it, added tits, refused to do anything that wasn't fun, doubled the tits, and the result was a kung fu art film about a male prostitute superhero called The Human Tornado. It rules.
We discuss its intentional successes and its accidental successes with our own Lydia Bugg, who had never seen it until the night before recording this. She loved it! Who wouldn't!? Listen to it here or wherever you like to Dogg Zzone. Also, as you know, rattlesnakes have bit us and crawled off and died, and it helps our podcast if you motherfucking like and subscribe.
Because there's no wrong way to discuss The Human Tornado, Seanbaby designed an Action Question Quiz to test Robert and Liddy's Human Tornado quote quotient. It is fun and it's fierce because we are cool and we're steady, and if you'd like to play the home version, fucking scroll down already.

Thanks to the Dogg Zzone, my partner was willing to watch Black Dynamite but not the films that inspired it. Now they are ready.

2021-07-24 03:51:25 +0000 UTCI think maybe "a dollar and a hafl" is a callback to the original Dolemite rhyme, where the people of Dolemite's home town offer him "a dollar and a half and a damn fine meal" to go somewhere else?

2021-07-23 21:02:02 +0000 UTCUgly rumour says that Rudy Ray Moore was queer on the DL himself, so yeah

2021-07-23 06:32:49 +0000 UTCThe parts of the movie where they're trying to make an actual blaxploitation action movie are boring. The parts of the movie where Dolemite just does his thang are classic.

2021-07-22 21:39:57 +0000 UTCJust came to comment on you skipping the part about guy they kidnap. Yes, it has very problematic elements, but I'm gay and I LOVED the character. He's just so happy and wholesome (apart from the fact that he tries to get sex in exchange for the service)

2021-07-22 15:00:08 +0000 UTCSo next up is Petey Wheatstraw : The Devil's Son in Law? I used to have the 6 tape Rudy Ray Moore set and I saw him in Austin in...1997? Magical.

2021-07-22 05:49:17 +0000 UTCI will dig though my art files and see if I can find it. If I do, I will post it in the Discord. :)

2021-07-22 00:48:50 +0000 UTCHuman Tornado is fantastic and Rudy Ray Moore is national treasure. If you haven't seen this movie, please clear your calendars and get that done. And then watch Petey Wheatstraw.

2021-07-21 19:39:23 +0000 UTCFun story: at a local gaming convention years ago, I sat on an “Iron Artist” line with Larry Elmore and Andy Hopp. We needed topics to draw, so I blurted out a classic Seanbaby line: “19 Karate Hookers laying siege to a disco!” So somewhere in my house, I have art by Larry fucking Elmore, legendary fantasy artist, of a hooker giving a flying kick to the door of a disco.

2021-07-21 17:12:49 +0000 UTCI can't wait to watch this movie later.
