Hi everyone, I hope you guys are doing well!
It is extremely hard to write this but my dad left us yesterday after a hard battle against cancer. My dad's name was Martin, he was 49 years old and by far the funniest person I've ever known.
He was a volunteer hockey coach for more than 20 years in a disadvantaged community, he lived, breathed hockey! he was so passionate, even at his weakest he would still try to go out there and give his hockey practices even though the pain would be worse the next day. He touched so many people's lives here in Montreal and I was reminded of that from the outpouring love I've been receiving from so many that knew him. He was just really good at bringing people to their full potential, making them realize that anything is possible if you work hard enough.
My sport was competitive dance, he didn't know so much about that but he would still treat my competitions as he would a hockey tournament. he would get so stressed about performances, try to learn as much as he could so he could try to give feedback and help me get better. More importantly, I know he was proud of me and my accomplishments.
Him and I were very much alike, he's a huge part of why I am the way I am. He was confidant, generous, proud, and stubborn as hell. He was the best at telling stories and making people laugh. He was the cockiest guy to play cards with but then also the biggest sore loser known to history at the same time. He was one of a kind, he was my dad and I loved him. I will miss him forever. 🖤
Doing reactions has really helped me during this last difficult year, it helps me distract myself so this is why I am going to keep going with the schedule. I want to so I will try my best! Of course if there is anything, I will keep all of you updated.
I love you guys, thank you for you understanding
Marie-Ève xx
