Outlander 3x03 - "All Debts Paid" FULL REACTION

Comments

So do you and your BF like totally bone after you get to the Claire/Jaime love scenes? 😂

Kevin Fries

My favorite line in season 3: "I think our bedroom is far too crowded already. Wouldn't you agree?" Yep, Frank had it bad in the deal. At least he got a daughter out of it, and an awesome relationship with her at that. Gray is one of my favorite characters of the Outlander series. Frank remained in love with Claire. That never change.

This has got to be one of my top 3 favorite Outlander episodes of them all. The emotions, dialogue, and the cinematography was so good.

Hellscream

Oh wow! thanks!

Claire and Jamie are separated by 202 years. When she left at Culloden (1746), she arrived in 1948. They have parallel time lines

The old mad man Jamie had to translate spoke of Ellen Mackenzie (Jamie's mum), married to a selky (Brian Fraser, with dark hair, known as "Brian Dubh". Dark hair like black selkies (seals) . The rumor said that she dissappeared, abducted by a selkie (accordingly to a legend about those animals : if a man stole the seal skin of a female selkie, the selkie could no longer return to the sea. She was forced to become his bride. She had children, but never became happy. Her human skin dried and burst... Story here rosalilly.nl/selkieslegend/

wooahh, in the books Murtagh DIES at Culloden???? I'm so glad they changed that for the series! that gives me hope we'll see him again someday <3

I'll make my toast to Freedom and Whiskey (as the proper setup and moment of, well yes, when Clare... looking down into the shop's work area... at... well, ya... and never looked better!)

Terry Yelmene

I think that's my favorite episode too!

Kimberly Graham

Yep, that's what I meant, just didn't explain well, sorry!

Kimberly Graham

@Kimberly Graham - I don't know... but I believe Frank dies just after Briana's high school (18 years) and Clare/Briana have progressed past Bri's Freshman year at Harvard when in the summer between 1st and 2nd year, they travel to London, then up to Scotland for the Reverend's wake, when they meet Roger. The timeline seems to track for me. It's just that on the Jamie side of the 200 years, we're only 10 years in, 6 years of hiding near Lallebrach and 3-4 years at Ardsmere Prison. Jamie's time at Hellwater, Lallebrach and Edinburgh becoming a printer, are yet to be fulfilled, to get as far as Clare and Briana.

Hi Evie ^^Yes ! More to come ! Like how you sais "oh yes, A.Malcom is the new name of Jamie ;) " Can't wait to see the reunion, and it is I think, still and forever my favorite episode. Will talk about it when the time has come ^^ I instantly loved John Grey from the moment he shares a meal with Jamie ;)

Nessie- Je lis, et alors

Also it just occurred to me that Brianna's age doesn't really line up with the overall timeline perfectly. e.g. she is about 18 when Frank dies but Claire goes back to Jamie when Bri is about 20. That's only 2 years later after Frank dying. But anyway, suspension of disbelief, poetic license and all that! We do see more of the next 10 years of Jamie's life though -- it's just that the Claire timeline is already moved forward more than Jamie's at this point in the show.

Kimberly Graham

Poor Frank. He loved Brianna so much and would never leave her so he waited it out to get divorced until she was an adult. Plus I think for a long time, he still loved Claire and hoped she would come around to loving him again as his wife. John Grey is a very good man, indeed. And he's gay/bi. (He can be and does end up married to a woman because of course back then, a man simply could NOT be openly gay, but he appears to prefer men.). He develops a very deep friendship with Jamie, so much so that Claire is a bit jealous later on, and John is jealous of her, too. Jamie knows John loves him, and ultimately just accepts that - but can't return that love in the same way, of course.

Off work today and happy I don’t have to wait until tonight to watch. Oh! I love your face when you saw Murtagh! I was happy to see him as well. In the book, he died at Culloden. I love that Jamie remembers what he learned from Claire to help Murtagh. That was such a bittersweet moment when he said that he learned a trick from a lass who knew about healing. God… Jamie is wearing the same clothes that he got arrested in and hasn’t bathed in who knows how long, but he still looks damn good. Haha! You are so funny. When you paused to talk about Jamie and John Grey and said “We’ll get to you” meaning Claire and Frank. I love what you said about John Grey learning more about Jamie. Poor Jamie, he thought there was a chance that Claire came back to him and the look on his face when that man mentioned the white witch. He truly is the King of Men. He was willing to have the chains put back on him and went back to the prison after he escaped first to be killed, but also because Murtagh and the other prisoners needed him. Watching how Claire and Frank ended up made me think of how they were in the first few episodes and how much she wanted to get back to Frank. Yes, Murtagh and the other prisoners were sent to the American colonies to serve as indentured servants when the prison closed. Yes, John Grey is gay and developed feelings for Jamie. He arranged for Jamie to serve his indentured time at an English estate because he could see Jamie. He tells Jamie that he will visit him quarterly.
