2021-07-18 11:35:10 +0000 UTCThat Delena scene is an almost kiss, the sexual tension there is so palpable. If you watch it again you can see that Elena was going for his lips, getting closer and closer and stopped only when Damon brough his brother up. He stopped the kiss by mentioning Stefan. It is since the birthday day that Elena display inconcious loving behavior toward Damon that is getting more and more apparent. He is been there for her, he helped her, rescued her and she grow more and more reliant on him, she trust him to do the right thing for her and his brother. She still love Stefan, they never split up voluntarelly, she didn't have a natural chosen closure with him and of course Elena would never give up on Stefan when he needs help the most. But unquestionably her feelings and actraction for Damon are getting strong by the minute, up to a point that are out and openly "discussed" amond them, like their little jelousy banter in Damon's bathroom, while he is tenderly taking care of her bruses. That is big. But Damon knew that all along: "There is something between us and you know it and you lie to me, to Stefan and most of all to yourself....", " I don't deserve you but my brother does" With the song saying "I was wrooooong". Now those words hit differently. Let's remember that being a vampire makes you aware of increase heart beat, increase of breath rates. Damon knew all along and when it come to his instincts, at the end of the day they've always been proven right. But now, it would be very easy for him to take advantage of the situation, but he doesn't.

Here goes a conversation that takes place between Matt and Elena: Matt: When you broke up with me, you said it was because you needed some time alone. You don't look so alone to me. Elena: Matt, you don't understand. It's-- Matt: That's okay, Elena. You do what you have to do. I just want to let you know that...I still believe in us. And I'm not giving up on that. This episode: Elena: Because I still have hope. Stefan: After everything I've done, you...You still think I'll be able to find my humanity again. Elena: Yes, I do. I know who you really are better than anyone, Stefan. And I'm not giving up. The one qualm I have about this, is does Elena really know Stefan better than anyone? He's been hiding who he is from her since the start of the show. She hasn't had a clue as to who he really is actually. Yet, I bring up these two exchanges because of how similar they are in sentiment and I feel that once again this is one of those instance that I feel they want us to remember that we heard something similar once before.
