The Vampire Diaries 1x13 - "Children of the Damned" FULL REACTION

I absolutely agree, but are not the writers pushing this narrative, because tha Stefan is very manipulative is there for everybody to see. Is just the narrative of silly children that watch the show not understanding what is going on, and not understanding also that without those very shady sinister nuances Stefan would be a very boring character and he is far from it. Stefan character is far more complex than silly uneducated Stefan crazy fans make him to be. They don't really like TVD as it was written.

This show is constantly trying to push the narrative (especially from Stefan's pov) that Damon is the bad seed and Stefan is the noble hero, but from the jump we Stefan stalked Elena for months and then pursued her romantically while she was still vulnerable from the loss of her parents, and lied to her about so many things while constantly manipulating her. Also that remark from Stefan about Damon not being trustworthy because he showed up at their father's grave without contacting Stefan or Elena (who were already there) was infuriatingly hypocritical as Stefan was standing over his father's bones holding the grimoire in his hands.

One the reasons it works also finding sympathy with Damon, is the show really for a certain amount of time, is really from Stefan's perspective. Afterall, it's his voice that opens the pilot episode. So much like Elena getting only half of the story, we are only getting one side of the story for the longest time, and with that comes certain biases and judgements. In some cases, Damon's character get's revealed, and Stefan's character as well, through Elena coming to discover who the brothers are, usually with Damon revealing the parts that Stefan doesn't want Elena to know or see, or Elena discovering these aspects of Stefan herself. Yet, when it comes to Damon, she gains insights into his character on her own, like the love matter she brought up, or by his telling her who he is with out hiding it as well.

Definitely one of the first reactors I have seen that picks up on the fact concerning his relationship with Stefan, and that he just loves Stefan actually. Damon is the big brother, that plays a large role in that relationship. This is also the first episode were we learn about how many betrayals Damon has faced, from Stefan back in 1864, then we have the one with Emily breaking the deal with him, another betrayal. Now we have this third betrayal that takes place, especially after being reassured by Elena that it was real. The big difference I think is that even though he is hurt by Elena during this, he isn't at the same time I feel. He understands that it wasn't her fault completely, that Stefan was using her to a certain extent, I also think he probably admires her loyalty to Stefan in this regard in not betraying Stefan in whatever promise she made to him, like he has just been betrayed. Afterall this is a mirror of his own loyalty to Katherine and dedication he has shown to her. I think we witness in this the affection he shows her with the slight kiss/smell of the hair, that he didn't want to do what he had to do to her, that he forgives her for hurting him in that instant. That he was sorry he had to do that to her. It goes back to what Elena said earlier about Damon and Love.

Episode 4 Bonnie: He filled her head with all these lies until finally it worked, and she turned against Damon.

Ian is adorable and Paul Wesley is hilarious...and they truly love eachother like real brothers. They just open a Bourbon company together and clalled their bourbon "Brother's bond" after 4 year that the show ended they still call each other brothers.

The show is so well written. The characters are very complex. It is impossibe to write a character givin it the depth and the complexity of a human being, with all that is happening is someone life and the of every each influence event play in forming someone personality. But in this show I find that the two brother personality is as close as a character can get to a real human being, teir story for when they were yong to nowadays is consistent in their psycological profile and their behaviour, and it's so fascinating and beautiful to discover. Damon is one of the best written character I ever enconter on a TV show ...and boy I have seen so many.

It's always so interesting to have your insights on the episodes, I always look forward to it :) I truly like Damon and I like him despite his flaws! beyond his twisted mind and his lack of remorse sometimes, due to the fact of being a vampire, Damon has a soft spot for Elena and more importantly for his brother Stefan. In my opinion it shows that Damon is capable of unconditional love and I think it's really cool because it makes him so much more interesting. There is so much more we need to find out, but we saw the dynamic between their family before everything happened and I perceived it exactly the way you're describing it! Falling in love with this show is so much fun!! Thank you for interacting with me, you're adding so much to the experience <3

Damon has all the reasons in the world (and you know just part of it...) to resent his brother but he haven't badmouth his brother with Elena once. If you remember in the episode where Damon and Elena had their first conversation in Elena's kitchen, Elena asked him who dated Katherine first, Damon answer was: "Ask Stefan, I'm sure his answer is different from mine" and close the charapter there. He wouldn't accause his brother of something directly, like Stefan does constantly, because he is a gentleman and he loves his brother and he wouldn't make Stefan looking bad in front of others.

This episode is so important for so many reasons. First the relationship with the father, play a crucial part in the psychology of the brothers. Damon is the first son, the one inheriting of the estate, lots of pressure to be like his father wanted him to be, but he is a constant disappointment no matter what he does. N being unloved by his father he turns all his love into Katherine, he really loves her, he spent 145 year waiting for the comet to pass again and open the tomb, talking about commitment to love. Stefan is the second son, loved n by the father, grown up as favourite son; he does what his father said and because of his naiveté, actually causing Katherine to get captured with all the other vampires. I’m glad you notice that Damon, in spite of everything, genuinely want to get close to his brother but Stefan has that attitude of self-righteousness with him, coming from the way they were brought up, that prevent them to trust each other, Stefan plotting against Damon and making Elena lie on his face, doesn’t help. Also you are one of the few people that notice Damon smelling Elena hair while he was holding her. Elena remind him of Katherine that gesture was like a reminiscence of Having Katherine h in his arm, and at the same time an attraction towards Elena, probably because she remind him of her. Damon is a tragic figure, Elena gets him perfectly, all he does is for love, and all he wants is to be loved.

It made me mad too! When I edit my videos after watching I notice stuff I might not have noticed while watching and I really felt bad for Damon!
