Low Memory
Added 2022-03-18 01:41:40 +0000 UTCI've been trying to open programs since yesterday even sims won't open and my browser stays open only a short while ..and my 3D programs I use to create. I've updated a few mods and downloaded some creating resources..now I'm getting more "update drivers" errors (since 2 months ago) and I feel like since my antivirus 'avast' has ended its license a few days ago suddenly my pc is now stopped up and lacking memory..im not sure if its the antivirus trying to sabotage my pc until i pay for it or what is happening.
my screen lags and suddenly blacks out and resets itself in what looks like 'safe mode' if i keep any program open more than 10minutes.
what I think my issue is : CUSTOM CONTENT . there is over 60gb of it on my pc and I want to move it to my other hardrives to use with my game to free up my C: space. I know it's possible but I have not met anyone who has done this successfully to guide me through it. I really want to know. I would hate to have to get rid of everything I have but I did buy more space for CC I just need to know 'how' to link it to my mods folder without it being on the C: drive. my sims game is on my D: drive and I have the E: for extra files
I've been trying to figure this out on my own a while now and Im not having good luck, if this keeps up I won't be able to do anything with my computer until i delete tons of stuff that includes making cc and just checking my emails or opening youtube. I literally cannot do much of anything that requires memory

thank you so much for the help!! I really like how boostspeed works, and the drivers it helps me update is really handy too . I was really skeptical about windows defender but i put it to the test and visited some places i go daily and I like how it is not giving me crazy pop ups and I constantly scan for virus or trojans often ...it did way better than i expected so thank you for that tip also! boostspeed is still something i need to fully go over to run all the updates like you advised so I'll be doing that through the week i just wanna make sure i have space to get them + time to work on CC a bit. I'm really behind but im glad things aren't crashing like before so I'll definately keep up with that. I'll for sure get the extra external drive as soon as I can. I don't like my pc heating up literally HEAT is driving me crazy makes me think it will melt !! can't risk that this is what I have so far after cleaning a few things from the first time https://gyazo.com/48e8e754ce70e1e74ef9d80a1ff4888a deleted avast it freed up about 15gb! but after updating a few things im left with 12. not ideal but at least nothing is crashing as much.. sims 4 is still crashing and making my pc freeze with the "we found errors give us a moment" blue screen then restarts but that is only if i go in game. i can still test cc which is what i was mostly worried about. so i should be able to get back on track with putting out the rest of my things I have planned already for everyone! 6tb is ideal!! I would love that kinda space but alas I only have a laptop for now. hopefully I'll earn enough to get a desktop in the future, but I will definitely follow these steps. thank you for all your help again :)

2022-03-23 22:30:36 +0000 UTCI feel so bad for you for all this. I am a geek, and I have been there. I use about 40 to 50 GBS of CC and Mods myself, so I feel your pain. Ok. So What I would do first is uninstall the Avast. Go into Settings, Apps, Apps, and Features. Find Avast in the list, right-click on it, and select "uninstall." Then, go to your windows security settings and ensure your firewall and security settings are enabled. Click on Settings, then choose Privacy & Security. Honestly, my mom has a much older PC, and her McAfee expired, and she started having hard drive issues almost immediately. So Avast may definitely be part of the problem! I only use Windows Defender. I know that sounds crazy, but Windows seems to keep up much better with the things that can attack it, so it's dependable. And it runs seamlessly in the background without disturbing me. Plus, it's free! It takes third-party providers like Norton, Avast and McAfee a little longer to respond to those changes. I switch between a desktop and a gaming laptop, and to do this, I use either a 500GB thumb drive or an SP Armour 1 TB external drive which thankfully is an SSD drive. This drive is shock proof which is why I love it. But, there are even cheaper ones on there. I think your laptop is suffering mechanical issues like overheating because your hard drives are working overtime to sort through your data. I also believe that your C drive didn't/doesn't have enough room for the updates, which is why you are getting the update errors. If you can afford the external drive, this will free up a lot of space. You can actually install your entire sims game and all the special apps you use on there. Your pc will run better and your game will run better. Using something like Boostspeed will clean up duplicate files, unneeded error files, etc. My current pc is brand new and has a total of 6 tbs of memory, but I still use Boostspeed to get rid of the junk. The ironic thing is that every time you receive a warning message or notification, it creates another small bit of data waste. So Windows and Avast warning you about issues is creating more problems because its creating reports that take up space! So to sum it all up, uninstall Avast. While you are viewing that list, see if there is anything else you see that you don't use and uninstall it. If you get Boostspeed or some other comparable app, run it. Then, do a full shut down and restart on your pc. Check for updates of all kinds, Windows, GPU, etc. Then, you should reorganize your files as you see fit. Once you are done reorganizing, run Booststpeed again to clean up your drives. These steps should help until you can get a bigger drive. But regardless of your drive size, you should always clean it up anyway. It's good to get rid of all those data bits that pile up quickly! I hope this helps.
