2022-05-03 06:22:46 +0000 UTCSlit+balls looks weird to me, honestly :) There are 2 positions that work well with thick tails, missionary and "tail-hugging", dog-like "humping" won't be possible most likely. I've seen all kind of male genitalia design on dragons, looks like folks choose them by aesthetic preferences rather than physics and biology :) Can't blame them x) We're talking of a mythical creature that can fly without wings on levitation alone here, it can have anything literally, and any kind of mating dance, could even happen in the air x)

2022-05-03 06:16:57 +0000 UTCBiomechanically... Sheaths are made for a rather specific mating stance, one which presupposes the existence of thin tails. Slit and extetnal balls might still work, but I'm not sure where you'd put the latter. Most animals have them near the top of the legs, where lateral (ball knocking) motion is minimised. But again, not an easy option due to the thick tail.
