DiBS 0.4.3 Follow Up
Added 2022-12-09 14:00:14 +0000 UTCHello all! This is just a follow up to detail 0.4.3's delay and to let you know what's learned for the next dev-cycle and how it'll be structured.
As a short rundown, the project was experiencing crashes, so a post was made to inform that a few features were postponed [link]. The crashes couldn't be fixed in time, which meant rolling back to a stable version. A stable 0.4.1 version was released that had some of the completed features. After a few days, 0.4.2 was released. Another few days, 0.4.3.
For the next dev-cycle to be smoother, here's a review on what was learned this dev-cycle:
Informing when there's project hurdles.
- If a feature is causing problems / not ready / broken, you'll be informed if it'll be postponed ahead of time.
- ---- You'll be informed 4 - 6 days before the release day, just like the "postponed features" post in this dev-cycle.
- ---- Postponed features will be scheduled for an end-of-month release, alongside or included in the progress log. This is so you'll know when it will be released. Although, if a feature needs more time to be developed, you'll also be informed!
Game systems will now be worked on earlier in the dev-cycle.
- Systems like the endings and achievements should go first, then the cinema tapes and animations later in the dev-cycle.
This is so problems are caught earlier and features less likely to break since the later part of the dev-cycle is dedicated to art assets.
Anyway, glad 0.4.3 is released. Excited for the December/New Years update, which is dedicated to the cinema tape for Mox Meetup!
