Patreon Price Increase on iOS and iOS only (just don't subscribe on iOS lol)

I included the above video because even though it's not about Patreon it already summarized this issue just fine. And I'm making this post because Patreon has now warned me that iOS is going to do this here on Patreon as well. That's very annoying of course, because the whole dynamic here is that you guys get to support me with the understanding that Patreon takes a cut, but most of it goes to me because otherwise what's the point?

But now Apple wants 30%. For doing nothing. In fact, they do this all the time, but the apps involved are also not allowed to list the cut that's going to Apple in their pricing. That seems especially dirty to me, since if Apple wants a slice of the pie they might as well be required to admit as such.

But that would give up the whole game and people would just subscribe on the website of each service instead of on their phone, and then log into the app via their account on their phone, having not given Apple an extra 30%. Which is what you should do, here, and everywhere else.

The change begins in November and only affects new subscriptions (possibly including any change in subscription?) that are purchased through the iOS Patreon app after that point. Just launch Safari lol
