As a Bleach fan, put off on watching this episode because I knew what was coming. Extremely disappointed that they did not rewrite this fight like how they did with Squad 0. The sword is pure Dues Ex Machina. Very asspull-ish and something you would expect to see in a show like Fairy Tale. It is what it is. Hopefully these last 3 episodes can get this rotten taste out of my mouth.

The Ise Shrine actually exists and their chosen head is always a virgin princess, they guard the legendary Sacred Mirror. This won't be said explicitly but that sword doesn't kill (not even Lille was killed), it just disperses Godlike powers and that's how Soul King was mutilated after entering the crystal. The curse is probably a punishment for that sin.
