I kinda figured the mega man and tamers lectures would be like a "one for you, one for me" arrangement so it's a shame to hear that the BNheads didn't show up to class. It's definitely not what I would have expected since that rerelease collection is inexplicably like the best selling megaman thing ever. Hopefully they get a random boost someday. Sorry you gotta do a makegood. I think Fooly Cooly is a good idea for a video. Especially from a "remember when they made all those FLCL sequels?" angle I think that could draw people in. All your talk about the retcons is fucking killing me lol so I expect to groan a lot when the actual video is ready.

2025-06-05 20:32:07 +0000 UTCSo personally, I started watching with your Megaman video and joined Patreon with the Bionicle video to support what you do. I've watched both of those and BN completely. So with the preamble out of the way: I grew up with Megaman and Legos in general. I have a personal interest in those things. BN is disjointed enough from Megaman and having never played it, while I watched the video as it IS Megaman content, I didn't really connect with it. The Tamers thing is way out of my wheelhouse (no earthly idea who it is or what it's about sans the title) and I've not watched it. I think that content that most closely connects to the largest group of your target demo will do well and the content that doesn't likely won't do as well. That said, even in things like the Tamers video, while I've not watched it I appreciate your efforts - hence my Patreon subscription. Edit: Alright so I wrote the above at the start of your discussion on how well the videos have done. Having reached the end of the ALOG, you've actually made me interested in Tamers so I guess I'm on my way to that now. Good pitch that wasn't a pitch but pitched me anyway.

2025-05-27 05:09:26 +0000 UTCI could tell you had way more fun with tamers than BN. And that translated to my enjoyment. what I enjoyed about Bionicle so much is that while it’s weird and wacky and there’s lots of retcons and bad writing it ends up coalescing into really interesting lore that I didn’t even realize I was so invested in until the stories abruptly ended without conclusions. A couple weird niches I’ve stumbled into at my local comic shop was plastiboo and his vermis series but also everything from the publisher hollow press is weird. It’s hard to say what would even be a good video topic next: certifiably insane niche internet artists or a niche fandom. I’m sure you’ll pick something interesting, I’ve never heard of and I’m stoked to learn more!

2025-04-30 17:47:42 +0000 UTCSad to see the Battle Network lecture isn't doing well. I really enjoyed it, personally. I've been trying to get friends to watch it. Just got home after listening to Tamers at work, and I loved it. Genuinely think I might check out some of his videos. I'm not sure what other stuff you're looking at, but your vids are always great to help me get through my graveyard shifts at the gas station. Excited to see what's up next, and in the meantime I'll probably watch some of the other lectures again. Here's hoping Tamers will gain some traction.

2025-04-29 13:14:53 +0000 UTCI left this comment on the original video when I finished watching it yesterday, but I really just think that BN and Starforce to a lesser extent, are just more niche and have less interesting concepts, less meat to their bones, then the original main 4 MegaMan series do. This is just a personal anecdote, but I watched the first Megaman lecture, and the first Bionicle lecture pretty much in one sitting each of those different times, while it literally took me from the videos premier to last night to get myself through the second MegaMan lecture. Not anything that you did obviously because the style is the same it’s just I didn’t think there were that many concepts to latch onto until star force, and then star force had it changed every single entry in the series so I felt like there was nothing I was like watching grow or interesting change or anything like that . Well, ultimately, I’m glad that they exist just from a Completionist perspective. I really don’t think that those two game series are just that well written or interesting and you know maybe that’s a hot take or whatever that was just my impression as someone who’s never played them. As a sidenote, I’m still pretty early into the tamer lecture, but it seems pretty obvious that a lot of the stuff in the series someone like Chris Chan could never ever come up with comedy of that level. I wouldn’t be surprised if he comes out eventually and was like yeah that entire thing was like absurdist comedy commentary on people like that in fandoms, especially the sonic fandom, the random obsession with an era of the series, the obvious self insert the degeneracy, the toxic shipping, the laughably bad art.
