Patron Q&A/Update Podcast, Episode 19: "So What's the Next Lecture?"
Added 2022-12-02 03:15:32 +0000 UTCHello, I'm back after an unusually brief period with another Patron Q&A. In this episode I answer your questions and discuss the reception my new lecture video has gotten, thoughts about possible topics for the next one, and progress on the book I'm almost finished putting together.
I know there's a few new patrons, hello and thank you for pledging! If you'd like to ask me a question or just say something and have me respond to it, leave a reply to this post right here and I'll respond next time I do one of these. How soon will that be? I don't know, as soon as enough questions have built up that I feel like I need to answer them all, lol.

'sup Ben. I'm back and now entering the wage cage officially, so I've re-patroned. Just caught up on the last 2 patron podcasts. I'll admit I have not really been listening to the PCP as much in the last 1-2 years since I've been on the job hunt and just otherwise chilling. I am, however, a prominent lurker in your server. I skim the chats and try to keep up on the goss. So, that being said... I am very much pro "Downfall of Digibro"/"PCP Lore"/"The Real Brony Lecture". I think it would be the next logical step/progression of a lecture to get some stuff off your chest. Currently, I am going through the Radcon 4 server backlog and having quite a laugh as I type this out. Seeing myself, however minute, contribute to the conversation where she eventually ragequits the server is quite a treat. That is just a drop in the bucket though that many might not realize, like you said, that she has done. You are the perfect person to make this kind of video, a video that may be useful for people to know about. A lot changed since I last commented in terms of DnD bullshit. I looped back around to actually considering fighter as an option for good 'ol Zomi, raging barbarian and wielder of the Gentle Darkness. I felt it thematically appropriate that he will spec into Echo Knight. The gist is that there is going to be a soul in the sword and that combination of subclass will be very fitting as you summon a shadow clone essentially. S/N: you making a lecture on some DnD lore would be epic, but like you were saying, not necessarily highly relevant anymore now that ProJared stuff calmed down. Question: Have you played Devil May Cry? It is something I've gotten into lately and has been really enjoyable (currently on the 3rd game).

2023-02-11 05:22:06 +0000 UTCI also have a speculation based purely on extrapolation from your 8 hour Megaman lecture. Do you think its possible that the Sigma Virus was created by Dr. Wiley as not only a virus, but a sort of mirror or infection made with the dark energy he gathered from space as almost like a way for Wiley to live forever? What if the Sigma Virus was actually Wiley? And also, what if Wiel was somehow a newer version of Wiley in some weird way?

2023-01-24 02:50:11 +0000 UTC1 minute in: I believe 8 hours is just entirely too long for a lecture. It should really be broken up into parts pertaining to the eras. 3 hours in: Megaman has a really strong sense of justice. 8 hours in: I feel like he really left some things out. This could take a few more hours.. lol

2023-01-05 20:04:25 +0000 UTCI guess I would say start with MM and MM2 and keep playing the classic series until you feel like youre tired of that and need a shakeup, then try X, play X's until youre bored, then either switch back to classic or try Zero, and just switch series when you feel like it, but do play the individual series' in release order. Treat ZX and ZXA as part of the Zero series and play Legends at any time when you want something longer and more involved. That's my Megaman Roadmap

2023-01-05 19:57:33 +0000 UTCHey, loved the recent lecture. After listening to it a few times, I figured I'd give the series a shot, and might as well try them all. Is the order you discussed the games in the lecture a good order to play them in?

2023-01-05 10:10:09 +0000 UTCI would absolutely love it if you did this style of video on homestuck. Either homestuck as a franchise, or just everything hussie has ever written. I loved gibbo's lecture, but no one has really made a comprehensive homestuck video, and I think you would be the perfect guy for the job. I'd also love to watch you shit on homestuck^2.

2022-12-21 23:32:05 +0000 UTCIβd be curious to see how youβd handle a lecture on the Protomen and their take on the Mega Man story. The second album about Light and Wily as young men is great, though it hits a bit different after MM11. Would Albert have taken over the world if he wasnβt so obsessed with double-gear? π€

2022-12-19 04:08:33 +0000 UTCI'd love to see you research the story on a short super obscure game because info will be more limited but fun. Something like Kicker Cubicle or Bubble Bobble, or even monster boy in wonderworld.

2022-12-16 22:58:37 +0000 UTCI would LOOOOOVE to see a solid, definitive video on Bionicle lore. There seems to be a lack of good lectures on the series' lore on youtube, and it has an incredible depth to it. (If you do, I would recommend approaching it in the chronological release order as opposed to the canonical timeline order, as there's some BIG plot twists that happen pretty quick if you just follow a timeline and not the order things were released in)

2022-12-13 04:51:32 +0000 UTCLike i was saying in the intro to the MM vid, it was originally going to be like the old lectures, and had to be changed when I couldn't make it happen organization-wise. I definitely think it turned out much better this way.

2022-12-10 13:02:01 +0000 UTCWow, thank you. I just watched some parts of the video to check on some info and realised how silly was for me to ask a lecture on a series that is yet to be concluded. From 2017 till now 2 big games, lorewise, have concluded, but the overall story is still to be finished. Sorry for being so hasty to ask for that. But, watching those older videos, like this one from your brother and, for example sonichu 101, I gues I can really say that the megaman format worked way better for me: Less words and more images on the board, less people talking at the same time and more "timelined" content (I don't know if that's the right word for it) In any case, thanks for linking me the older PCP video, much appreciated.

2022-12-08 14:46:43 +0000 UTCThank you and I'm glad! Did you know, though, that my brother did a somewhat similar lecture video on KH a few years ago? I'm in the audience, even. if you haven't seen it, here it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Bo6Cbeq18k

2022-12-07 23:07:55 +0000 UTCHello. I would humbly ask for a Kingdom Hearts history lesson, thank you. Oh and that I really liked this new format. At first I thought that not going with chronological order and instead going with release order would be weird, but since you explain when the releases occured and what they impacted on the earlier parts of the story, linking everything together it was actually nice. Thank you again. I don't really have any questions, I really like the 8 hour video and I hope to see more indepth analysis like that one, with images, sotrylines and links. Thank you for your work.

2022-12-07 02:56:35 +0000 UTCI'd definitely like to see a PCP history/downfall of digi lecture. I think I'm caught up on the drama but hearing it told in a structured format sounds good.
