Ten Paces and Draw

So, this is technically a PCP thing and not a Ben Saint thing, but it was me and Munchy's brainchild and I'm the one who actually did the work of editing it, so it's my baby.

I've been chipping away at making this over the past several months. I wanted to make it as legit and professional as was humanly possible, and I think I accomplished that. My only regret is that there was no b-roll footage as I think that could have improved the presentation, but hey, what are ya gonna do.

Anyway this took forever to get finished for a few reasons. One, the large amount of cuts and transitions, most of which actually took some finessing because I wanted the audio to lead into the cut. Second, evening out the audio was a fucking nightmare. All the audio was recorded on the camera's onboard microphone so the volume varied wildly based on how far the camera was from the speaker. Even within a single shot I needed to bring the audio up and down in different spots when different people were speaking. Also there were tons of hisses and pops and crackles that just needed splicing out. Some of the audio interference couldn't be cut out without making lines unintelligible though so a few little audio quirks had to stay in.

So there was all that to mess around with, plus finding appropriate music, doing the drawings and converting them into gifs, getting the volume right, timing everything, etc. I could go on and on about all the bullshit I had to deal with. Intensive video editing isn't really what I do most of the time so I had to figure all that out as I went. But yeah, long story short, it took forever but I'm happy with the result.

It's not technically out as of this post but it'll be premiering tonight on the PCP channel at 6pm EST, so hopefully I'll see you there!
