This weekend I went to a steel plate pistol match with my very talented homies, and one of our regular models, Alaska Mauve. Due to the high round count and speed of steel plate matches... I used it as a test bed to compare
1. A bone stock Glock 19
2. A Nighthawk 2011 in 9mm (basically a "limited" division pistol)
3. A super pimped out Glock 19 with bolt on parts to make it into a "Roland Special" or "P&S Special"
With 5 strings of fire over 5 stages... that's a lot of shooting. The Nighthawk, previously owned by Steve Fisher and Chris Costa... is a custom masterpiece and sure felt it. However, it was bested by the pimped out Roland Special by 6 seconds total from the match. In turn, the 2011 bested the bone stock Glock 19, also by 6 seconds.
The Roland / P&S Special is funky and weird. It reminds me a little bit of riced out Honda Civics from my time as a car nerd. However, unlike ricer Civics... the mods on the pimped out Glock are added on purely to serve a purpose in the pursuit of performance.
