MHA - 6x17 REACTION!! *OTAKU GOLD*

Right. Like I said. Black and white. But it never should have been train my kid OR ignore him completely. Yet thatโ€™s what Endeavor did.

To me it feels like Endeavor, even way back in the past where he was solely driven by the obsession to be the greatest, cared about his children but acted in an overly aggressive and authoritarian way with them. He gave Toya a dream to be great, but when he realized that pursuing the dream was injuring Toya, he tried to forcefully push Toya away from his dream in order to "protect" him, not knowing that his actions served as attacks on Toya's mental state. IMO Endeavor isolated Shoto after he saw Toya try to kill him, because Endeavor wanted him to be safe and didn't want to trigger the other children that he prevented from following a hero's path. But even this desire backfired because again, he thought wellbeing only mattered in a physical sense, neglecting the mental and social aspects. That narrowmindedness caused him to break his family.

Agreeing with Quan's comment and adding to that: This episode shows just how black and white Endeavor saw the world of heroes and a hero's worth. When he heard that Touya shouldn't use his quirk, the ONLY option for him became "throwing him away" like he did with Fuyumi and Natsuo and ignoring the problem. Notice that, when Touya attacks Shouto (with Fuyumi and Natsuo standing right beside him & Rei) he doesn't also isolate Fuyumi and Natsuo, because he's not concerned with them getting hurt. The only child who has any worth, in his eyes, and therefore deserves protection, is the child that could become a hero. Now just imagine being Touya, who has trained with his father, willingly and eagerly, since his quirk manifested, suddenly being told that all that training was ending. On top of that, he went from spending quality time with his father to spending no time with him at all. All he wanted Endeavor to do was look at him, pay attention to him, like a father should, and like he did before. But he wasn't even granted that. Endeavor just threw the other three children at their mother and told her to deal with it while he focused all his time and attention on Shouto. I feel like, if Endeavor had taken time to spend with Touya on other things, he could have found something else to chase as his dream. Not to mention, with all the technology in the MHA universe, I still refuse to believe that there isn't some kind of support equipment that would be able to help him not burn himself, if he had only tried to explore that avenue. Loved the reaction as always!
