Changes to Patreon
Added 2024-10-31 15:30:51 +0000 UTCStarting in November, Patreon will be implementing 2 changes to the way they bill subscribers, neither of which should affect anyone who is currently a paid member of this Patreon, but here they are so that you know what is happening.
In order to keep the Patreon app available in the Apple app store, Patreon needs to do the following: 1) adhere to Apple's subscription method and 2) pay Apple 30% of the tier price per subscription. This means that starting in November, the following changes (that again, should not affect any current paid members) will be made:
Change One
All paid members who subscribe going forward will be charged 1st on the day they join, and then subsequently on the first of the month. This is how I am already doing things, but going forward this is the only subscription option, and there used to be more choices. If you pledged before I adopted this subscription model, you will see no change and will continue to be charged on the same day you always have been.
Change Two
Going forward, the tiers for anyone who subscribes as a paid member through the Patreon app will be priced slightly higher in order to cover Apple's app store charge. Anyone currently using the Patreon app should see no change.
If you are a free subscriber and you plan to change and subscribe at a paid tier, the easiest way to avoid this extra charge is to just not use the Patreon app to access Patreon.
