Hey there! Love this class; I played a goblin death knight some time ago prior to this update. Was just perusing and I noticed an error in the spell description for "Gahoul's Glorious Gothic." Near the end of the second paragraph, there's a new line stating that the manor contains food for 100 people for seven days. But then in the next paragraph, it retains the old line about having enough food for 50 people for a week. Which of these is the intended food supply size?

Gabriel McBride

I saw that the level 10 feature for reanimator got changed. Nice!

Love the update! Just want to mention that the Undead Thralls table on page 22 is labeled "Necromancer Subclasses".

Patrick Weiler

Understandable. Anyway I would personaly leave part about healing all undead in the main charnel instead of only "healing your thralls" since it was funny interaction of the particular feature with the world but we will just rule it that way then.

Lisu

hey, I'm wondering if there should be some limiter on deployment or charnel cost on corpse florist? It seems a bit.... stronk at the moment. Unlimited uses and doesn't specificy how they get rid of it

SHROOMBUS

Great questions! First, we moved that bit from Charnel Touch into the Thralls feature. It's under "Healing Your Thralls." On Thrall total, this hasn't changed as much as you might be thinking. The previous version also had two caps: Prof Bonus and CR Total. New 5e classes don't rely on Prof Bonus for this sort of scaling, since it has weird multiclassing implications, so we moved it to a column on the table. After some fiddling with the system, we found that the thrall damage and HP progression was smoother if we shifted the number of thralls two levels later than your get CR increases, which is where it is now

Mage Hand Press

Why Charnel Touch has removed "This attack deals no damage to Constructs and instead heals Undead for the number of points expended. You can target a willing creature with this ability without making a spell attack roll."? To me this paragraf made this feature kind of special and created some funny interactions during our plays. Also what is the reasoning behind capping amount of Thralls? CR Total imo was enough. Now when we made some calculations to compare to Valda's version it makes it kind of lucklastery. Is it about players taking too long with their minions turns? Or some scenario where necromancer seemed too powerful due to more minions?

Lisu

Guh! I'll fix that ASAP. Great catch

Mage Hand Press

Looking good! On page 9 the lvl 7 spells say "Level 7 Witch Spells" however

The Red Priest

Thank you!

SmazzoBazzo

I uploaded an early version of the PDF by mistake! Should be fixed

Mage Hand Press

This is a really great question, and I believe it's the first time someone's asked about these conditions. I'll add a line granting immunity to Grappled and Prone!

Mage Hand Press

Monstrous grafts are still available to all characters, including necromancers. We removed the Mad Science feature since it didn't really offer much value (since your thralls can be so expendable) and created a ton of cost and complexity.

Mage Hand Press

Hey there! This looks really good - I think the others have raised some concerns already, but I was wondering: with the Reaper subclass' umbral form, is it still possible to fall prone or be grappled? I assume so since you're not a literal shadow, but would like to check.

Rune Varkevisser

To answer that, the stitches are in there to act as a replacement for the mad science feature. To replicate the features while being more self contained and not reliant on external factors. Necromancers can utilise monstrous grafts if they wish but it’s no long integral to the subclass.

SmazzoBazzo

I am also unsure if reanimator is supposed to loose mad science for monsterous grafts. Since it was included at the back of the book I assume not. Tho I can't seem to find it

DanteTheGallent

Yay! Now I can update all my necromantic principles to be more ethically questionable! The PDF however does look unfinished to an extent. Especially since the thrall cr column is missing and how flawed resurrection is not on the spell list as well despite it being a spell with details at the bottom. There’s also concerns relating to some other things that haven’t been addressed, such as how Pale master still has animate dead apart of their spell list despite it being a base class spell for a Necromancer and how the cantrip level still starts at 2 and ends at 4 despite it supposed to be 3 to 5 from what I’ve asked during the roundup showcase.

SmazzoBazzo

I was about to say the same thing
