Kobolds and Witches WIP

I hope everyone's keeping safe out there! This month has been a roller coaster for everyone, but at this moment, every member of the MHP team is safe, sound, and working on D&D stuff for you all. This month, we finally wrapped up the design for the Complete Witch redux, and made big strides into the Cobalt Book of Kobolds.

Cobalt Book of Kobolds (Work in Progress) 

We’ve been promising this book for a long time, and it’s much further along than it seems. We have a lot of stat blocks written, but with how time-intensive and art-dependent they are, we didn’t get any of them in the PDF this month. Instead you get two standalone components from that book: our newly reworked and simplified kobold race, and a massive, devious list of traps.

Complete Witch Redux

It took a mountain of work, but it’s finally done! We’d still like to get the Heart witch finished and implemented and do a balancing pass on the familiars, but right now, I’m very happy with the state of the class. The new Grand Hexes are balanced and more interesting, while many of the subclasses have been rewritten from the ground up to be more robust. Everything is better for this work. 

It of course needs a mountain of art, and some more careful graphic design if we want to make this a standalone softcover eventually.

Where’s All the Art?

I’ll take the blame for that. We’ve been juggling a lot of projects, and as such the art team is very spread out at the moment. One artist has been finishing up the Complete Binder (two pieces left!), while another has been working on a Super Secret Project that we’re bringing to you next month, while yet another has been working on the Cobalt Book of Kobolds. While this seems fine in theory, it means that any one artist suffering delays can delay the finished art on books, which is exactly what happened this month. 

We’re working to get projects finished and to focus the art team on one project at a time. We’re also trying out new artists, so we should be upping productivity here very soon. I’m sorry you got a lackluster month of PDFs. Next month will make up for it.

Does the Salt Magic subclass in High Seas still work with this?

Oh, then that's the issue then -- it should last until the end of your next turn, as other hexes do. I'll update this in the doc in a few hours.

But malevolence ends at the beginning of the next turn not the end. Doesn't that mean you can't cackle to extend it ?

They synergize as well as they can, considering the action economy. You can use your action to attack and your bonus action to start Malevolence on your first turn, and cackle starting on your second turn.

Why don't malevolence and cackling killer synergize? That seems very unusual.

One, I believe there is a typo in the grand hexes. It should be Coven spell list, not Cauldron spell list. Second, is blood magic supposed to have the same bonus spell list as black magic?
