Modern Mayhem WIP

We bit off a lot with this one. To rewind and talk about all the twists and turns: this release was originally supposed to be for Electric Empire, a new setting in a modern/near-future Japanese-inspired megacity. To better distinguish it from Dark Matter, we decided to shift the book slightly into a more modern, rather than Cyberpunk direction (which doesn't mean we won't have cyberpunk influences in there, but that the general tech level will be more realistic, rather than science fiction.)

However, this got us down a whole new rabbit hole: modern rules. We decided it was best to tackle all the modern rules as a standalone book, which we could adapt to any number of future settings. We've been working hard on just that, but we didn't get anywhere near a completed product this month. Working on the Beta version of Dark Matter ate about three days more than expected, plus we lost two days automatically, due to it being February. To make matters worse, I was down with the flu for a week.

What we have is a work in progress. We kind of thought it was going to be a two-month thing to get a real shot at a setting, and this is basically the first month: nuts and bolts for the critical starting systems, equipment, spells, and other rules. On its own, it's enough to start a campaign in a modern setting, but it's missing the critical character options that make it easy.

We'll be taking another month to finish this and get it some proper art, but that probably won't be next month. The plan is to work on the Tavern Book or finish the Complete Craftsman Redux next month, both to start catching up on the release schedule, and to give us an opportunity to finish something. Enjoy what we've got here, and look forward to more in the future!
