Comic Concepts for April 2021

S’up ya’ll? I’ve been working on a bit of behind the scenes stuff the past few days but I’d like to get a poll started to gauge what kind of story you’d like to see me do for the next comic! I was satisfied with the way I pitched the comics last month so hopefully you all are as well. I’ve got a few scenarios I’d really like to do and I’ve done some preliminary concept for them already but for now I’ve narrowed down the three most developed stories to present. Two of them are reruns from last month, so if you were really hoping for one of those to get done now’s their second chance, and the third one is a new idea. I’ll be reposting the same descriptions from last month, this time though I’ve started getting in the habit of creating mood boards and collecting inspiration photos and works. It helps especially since most of these is modelled after a very specific aesthetic. I just started using Pinterest specifically for this and I know I’m centuries behind in this regard but it’s been fun curating an aesthetic specifically for these comics. I’ll be definitely continuing to use it in the future. Anyways, here’s the pitches:

1. A Sexy Retro Sci-fi Space Adventure

The idea behind this was a very simple concept, it’s inspired by 50’s and 60’s era sci-fi design. The story would focus on two partnered aliens who’ve finished their last mandatory anal probe of humans from planet Earth for the benefit of intergalactic space research. Now that they’ve finally completed their mission it’s time to celebrate... SPACE STYLE.

This comic would be simple, campy and more art focused, tonally think of like a B movie. It’s basically Plan 9 but sexy.

Mood board mainly for costume and bg inspiration. I’m a huge Jack Kirby fan and very few people interpreted space really like him, so I’d like this comic to be something very unique and almost dreamlike.

2. Let’s Go To The Steam Room

Okay now this one is pretty much pure comedy. Three enormous bodybuilders, one petite swimmer and a co-ed steam room. What could possibly happen?

Those who follow me on social media might’ve seen that I have actually drawn stuff from this idea before. Also here’s a look at the bodybuilder designs:

This comic takes place in a very small amount of locations but I imagined a luxury spa. I did most of the preview art in red but I’m also looking to create a relaxing sort of atmosphere. hard to explain in words, but this would be challenging to develop a color scheme for.

Apologies for the rougher than usual sketches but recently I’ve been somewhat obsessing over the 70’s disco era, so that ended up being an inspiration for this flashback episode.

3. Disco Flashback

So I noticed roller disco has been making a bit of a comeback lately, and personally I’m glad to see it. This led to me writing a story that takes place in the 70’s, framed as a flashback.

So there’s this one character of mine that I’ve written into a few characters named June.

In case you aren’t already familiar with her, so I thought a good pov character for this story would be her mother, who back in her day was a roller-skating swinging child of love. The story would feel more “cool” and “sexy” and I still need to write out the entire scenario but I imagine it would be colorful.

My favorite part of the 70’s aesthetic has probably got to be the fashion, so if you agree then perhaps you’d like this comic as well??
