I am someone who is a firm believer that you don't have to be good at something to be allowed to/have fun doing it, and someone shitting on someone's singing voice while they're just innocently living their life makes me go from zero to 'I'm going to suplex you into the moon' immediately. I know a lot of people don't have a lot of confidence in their singing voice, so I thought Jaskier would be a great person to help build up that confidence. I hope you all enjoy!

Jaskier: Oh wow, I've never heard you sing before......

It's beautiful......

*pause*

Oh, I didn't mean to frighten you......

*pause*

You don't need to be embarrassed, I think you sounded wonderful! Go ahead and continue........

*pause*

Of course you sounded wonderful! Believe you me, as a bard, I've heard my share of people who insisted that they were an incredible singer and were in fact not......you on the other hand, sound perfectly lovely.....

*strums softly*

No one's ever really complimented you on your voice before, have they?

*pause*

Well, it's not a matter of sounding as good or better than anyone else.......that's not what music is about.......

*pause*

Fair....I did just say that I've heard my share of terrible voices, but I also said that they insisted that they were wonderful singers and refused to believe otherwise.....and were charging money to be heard so......

But that's not the point.....

Music, singing......you don't have to be a professional or even good at it to experience it and find joy in it......

So many people nowadays claim that if you aren't a professional at something or turning a hobby or something you do moderately well into a viable career, then you're wasting your life.....

That's not what music is about.....that's not what life is about.

You're allowed to sing, even if you don't sound like the most beautiful thing in the world.......except maybe if you're being a prick about it, which you weren't, so I'd say you're in the clear.......

*strums*

Life is about doing things that bring us joy......and there are some things that we are naturally better at.....some things that take time and effort put into them, and some things that we won't ever be what society claims as 'good at', but it brings us joy anyways.

I'm not terribly great at riding horses, but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy it regardless........

So it makes sense that one can enjoy singing no matter how 'good' they might be at it.......

*pause*

Something about artistic endeavors make people believe that you must be good to be allowed to explore them, otherwise it's "a waste", which is completely and utterly ridiculous if you ask me........

Music is not about who can sing the best or sound the best.......

Music........it helps translate emotions from our inner selves and allows us to express them in the outside world. It can tell stories, bring forth memories.......

It can help us relate and connect with others on a different level.......hearing someone sing something that we so earnestly connect with makes us feel like we're not alone......

*pause*

Haven't you ever heard a song and thought to yourself, "Gods, it's not just me that feels this way....."?

That's something that can be shared through music, and you don't have to be a good singer to feel that........

*pause*

But what if you want to get better at something?

Well.......*strums* There's certainly nothing stopping you there......

*pause*

You want my advice?

Hmmm.....

*pause*

I honestly think that the best advice I could give would be to just keep singing.......

Granted that sounds a little bit ridiculous, but perhaps I can explain........

It seems to me, that one of the biggest things holding you back is your confidence in yourself, plus the thought that you aren't any good and only people who are good should be heard singing........

*pause*

Well, you know how they say confidence is everything?

In my personal opinion, and from the few moments I was able to hear you, I thought that your voice sounded wonderful, so I don't think that you need any advice in that route, unless you wanted to actually get into vocal training........

I imagine that your voice will sound better to others and to yourself if you build up your confidence.....

And if you also let go of the notion that only people who are incredible singers should be allowed to sing.

That ones the harder one.....but I've found that the more confident you feel when singing, the more that those listening will believe you.......

Think about it, if you don't believe in yourself or your ability, why should strangers believe you ?

Again, I'm only saying this because you said you wanted to get better at singing........

*pause*

And how should  one gain confidence? I think singing in front of more people would do you good.....even if it's one person.......

The more you sing, the more confident you'll feel......especially if you sing a song that you enjoy, or evokes those emotions in you.....

Are there any songs that make you feel good, that make you feel confident and ready to take on the world?

*pause*

Then singing those more often will help you........

Honestly, the thing about confidence is, a lot of it is fake it until you make it.......

The human mind is unfortunately incredibly easy to trick......so if you continue to sing songs that make you happy, that make you feel confident, then those feelings will become more and more of a reality.

Once you gain a bit more belief in yourself, I imagine that your singing will sound even more wonderful.......

There's sometimes nothing that people enjoy more than seeing another person succeed or be proud of what they're doing.

And even if you never perform in front of a vast crowd of people, know that the music that you sing is powerful, because it brings you joy, it helps you, and it moves you......which as I said before......is really what music is about........
