Also the golden thread she was following is a reference to "invisible string" off folklore, she has the lyric "one single thread of gold tied me to you." I know you liked the song mad woman on folklore and Cassandra was a song from TTPD. Ever since TTPD came out and she began doing mashups during the surprise song set instead of just playing individual songs, the fans have been begging her to do Cassandra x mad woman since it was obvious how well those two songs fit together both thematically and sonically. For MONTHS we were waiting for her to play it but she waited until the 5th last show of the tour to finally play it (and I can't even complain because it was my show). And to one-up the request, she also threw in I Did Something Bad which is a fan favourite song from her album reputation.

But what i take away from it is when its fate, you will find your way to each other☺️ Also it was revealed in her times magazine person of the year article that taylor wrote willow in ten minutes

The lyrics never really made sense to be about her boyfriend, Joe, at the time and no one understood why/how it was connected to Cardigan, even though the videos lead into each other. She let us know in TTPD that these songs were about her young love from cardigan (she told everyone they were made up characters. They were actually her and Matty Healy), and their continued love and admiration for one another even though their circumstances kept them apart. Unfortunately, they did make it back to each other and it did not end well…. This song/video really helps explain her devastation in TTPD. In other words this is Betty and James coming back together when they’re older (the children represent when they first met started dating when they were 25), and walking straight out that door into a fire. 😬.
