2025-02-23 03:25:37 +0000 UTCI think something you should know about A Star Is Born, is that this is Technically the 4th adaptation of the film, the first was back in the 1930s (it also is the only one that isn’t a musical) It is the first colored film to ever win an Academy Award, each movie follows a loosely similar character arc but the characters and storylines vary, it’s basically cinematic folktale

This song would have hit more if the first time you are hearing it is in the movie. But that’s maybe just me lol this song specifically was filmed the day her closed friend Sonja passed away from cancer. She missed her by about 15 minutes and she thought her friend Sonja would have told her to just go film the movie and do what she loves to do. So instead of postponing filing, she filmed it. So tbh everyone I see this scene in the movie that’s all I can think about 😭😭😭 her friend is even on an intro to her song GUY from Artpop. They were longtime close friends

Fun fact: Gaga thanked Whitney for inspiring her in her 2011 Grammy speech for best pop vocal album. ❤️ She recorded this performance right after finding out her best friend, Sonja, had lost her cancer battle. (She has a song about Sonja on the Joanne deluxe album) and yes, the film is going to rip you apart. Keep tissues nearby. Not you correcting yourself with falsetto!! Lmfao we love a King who takes notes! 💕 “I wouldn’t be surprised if Gaga put out a country album.” Boy, do I have news for you! 😂 (One word: Joanne) A famous quote from a clip of Gaga during a show: “Just in case any of you were wondering if I lip-sync at all during my performances or if I have been lip-syncing at all while I have been on stage this evening… the answer is no. I never lip-sync. Not one word. And I never will.
