~Paper Bound: The Phantom of the Opera: Part 13~
Added 2020-09-20 19:00:05 +0000 UTCI just want to once again preface the listening of this audio to let you know that there is another instance in the manuscript that uses a word for a group of people that is a slur. This is a translation of a French story that was written originally in 1911, and that was during a period of time where the Romani people were referred to almost exclusively as, 'Gypsies'. I do not condone the usage of this term in the least, however I feel it would be inaccurate to not include it, not for the sake of accuracy, but for the fact that I do no want to erase it from history. This term was a common occurrence, and listeners/readers should be aware of it, and know that it's not ok, even though it was a direct product of it's time.
And that's the end of Phantom everyone! Thank you so much for sticking around for this story, of which many people had never heard/read the book version of!
In the next few days I will be putting up a poll to decide the next book we'll read! Thanks again so much everyone for listening!
