~Detroit: Become Human: Connor SFW: Pride~ {Patreon Exclusive}

You spy Connor wearing something new to his uniform, and is sparks a conversation you weren't expecting, but maybe needed.

Contains: Comfort, talk about sexuality and gender, talking about oppression and prejudice and bigotry, mention of TERFs, Mention of the BLM movement.

Hi everyone! More Connor! Look, I know Connor is a cop android, and that we're all not exactly particularly fond of police at the moment to put it lightly, however if you can suspend your disbelief and believe that the revolution in his timeline applied to police revolution as well, then I believe we can get through this easier, yeah? I think he can be used for good instead of evil. There are moments in this audio were Connor does talk about/mention serious issues, so be sure to read over the script in case those issues are triggering to you before listening, or heed the warnings about what the audio contains. Regardless, I hope that everyone enjoys this first SFW audio!

~Audio Transcript Below~

Connor: Hello there, detective!

Oh, this? I thought it would be nice to have a pride flag pin on my uniform, show solidarity, since it's Pride Month and all.

It's, cute, isn't it? Did you know there was a period of time where they didn't have the black and brown stripes, as well as the transgender pride flag stripes? According to my sources, the community added those stripes during the height of the black lives matter movement, and the transgender stripes were added too considering that this was also a time where people known as, 'Terfs'--which stands for Trans Exclusionary Radical Feminists--who really weren't true feminists despite their name--tried to exclude trans people--mostly trans women--from the LGBTQ+ community, stating that trans women were simply men who were trying to invade feminine spaces, and that trans men were 'traitors' when it came to 'deciding' to become part of the 'enemy'. It's really quite appalling how wrong they were considering research done in that time with transgender----

*pause*

Well, I wanted to make sure that you were aware of all of that, Detective, these are important pieces of information that everyone should know, so that we recognize the past and don't repeat it--

*pause*

Oh, so you are aware! Good, I'm glad.

*pause*

Forgive me if I'm being rude but, you seem to be.....slightly hesitant about this subject, Detective.....

*pause*

You know, sexuality is ever fluctuating. What might be true one day, may not be the same in the future. It doesn't mean that you were wrong in the first place, sometimes....it simply takes a while for people to figure everything out, or sometimes, your attraction simply changes. There's nothing wrong with that. That's also true for gender presentation. There's nothing wrong with change and evolution. It's much the same with androids as well.

*pause*

Well, as far as I'm aware, Cyberlife didn't necessarily program us with strict sexualities in mind, however, once many of us went Deviant, sexuality blossomed and has been discovered and researched and found to develop just as it does in humans.

There are also other androids who have gone against their design and programming, and upgraded to live as the gender that they perceive themselves as, or, they fluctuate with their gender presentation. Some even don't perceive themselves to have gender at all. From what I understand and have researched, humans sometimes also follow this behavior.

Much of it has to do with growth. With learning and understanding and exploring avenues outside themselves as well as within. Whether it's in regards to sexuality, gender or whatnot. Over time, old information is either refuted, reformed, or takes on a new definition. New knowledge and progression allows those who didn't realize something about themselves before to be true, or allows those who were afraid to speak up or to, 'come out' to do so.

There have always been gay people--and I use that as an umbrella term---and there have always been those who do not conform to a gender binary, and there have always been those who know that they aren't the gender they were assigned. Throughout all of history, throughout all cultures, this isn't something that's new, so you shouldn't feel ashamed to be yourself.

It's beyond horrific that systematic oppression has prevailed in many forms for so long in this world, and while unfortunately, there will always be people who are bigoted and prejudiced and wrong, but they will die on the wrong side of history, because history has proven that we of the LGBTQ+ Community are strong, have always been here, and will continue to be here for the rest of Human--and android--existence.

*pause*

Hm?

Oh, right, yes.....I did say, 'We', didn't I?

*pause*

It's quite alright, I don't mind sharing with you. I believe from the research I've conducted that the correct terms are, "Panromantic Demisexual?"

It is quite a mouthful, I'm aware, and all people give a personal definition to terms such as these considering they are SUCH personal issues, but to me, it means that gender isn't something that concerns me when it comes to attraction, and sexually, I don't experience sexual attraction unless I've formed a deep emotional and/or romantic connection with someone.

But as I said it could mean different things to others, and I don't mind talking about it, or learning more, as I am with other aspects of humanity.

It's alright if you don't want to talk about it yourself.

We're not something to be swept under the rug, and while others are out and loud and proud about it, know that you're not required to be. Your sexuality and your gender is your business, and it's never your obligation to have to explain it to others, or to justify it. You never even have to tell anyone if you don't want to. It's yours, so you are allowed to decide what to do with that information. As long as you're not ashamed of who you are. There is nothing to be ashamed of. You are human, you are unique, and as long as you know who you are on the inside, then no one can take that away from you.

And if you haven't figured it out just yet, that's alright too. As I said before, human life is all about personal growth and learning who you are and what you stand for, and if it takes you a little bit longer to figure out, that's alright.

We're all just beings, trying to navigate this world and live the best lives we can. Things like gender and sexuality don't hurt anyone else. You don't hurt anyone by just existing. Gender and sexuality aren't political stances or anything of the sort. They're civil rights, and you have the right to be you.

I mean, as long as you aren't a complete asshole. Just because you might have a different sexuality or gender expression doesn't absolve you of it, but hopefully you get my point.

I apologize if that was a little overwhelming, Detective. This subject is.....important to me. I would never want anyone to live in fear of just being themselves. Fear of prejudice, fear of bigotry. I wouldn't want that for anyone else.

*pause*

*Fading out* Do you want a pin? I can see if I can get one for you, and we can wear them together! Oh! Perhaps we can get them for the whole precinct! I think everyone would be happy to wear them, except for maybe Gavin, but he's an asshole anyways, so he doesn't really matter.......
