It's Halloween, and Connor has some questions, as always.

Remember on Twitter when I was talking about trying to do cute things with Connor and it turning into a 'why Humans do the things that they do?'. This was the script. Honestly, I just wanted Connor to be cute and maybe dress up, but this is what we got, which thankfully, still has dress up in it. I hope you like it regardless!

Hello there—Oh, I apologize, I didn't mean to scare you.....

Hm? 

It is, the Halloween season, isn't it? 

Are you planning on doing anything Halloween related? A party, trick-or-treating? Watching horror movies?

*pause*

Do you like watching horror?

*pause*

I mean, aren’t they like watching sad movies? Humans watch them as well too and I can’t imagine that people enjoy being sad.

Well…..From what I understand, it’s cathartic release. Watching movies or programs that are scary give humans the opportunity to experience thoughts and emotions that are normally reserved for terrifying circumstances in a healthy and safe manner. You experience those normally 'bad' feelings, and then can move on--for the most part--without it affecting you negatively. Well, for most humans. There are even humans who are better because of it.

*pause*

That’s what I’ve researched at any rate…..

*long pause*

What does it feel like, to be scared?

*pause*

No, I know of the physical sensations. The tightening of the chest, the rapid pace of the heart, the shaking of the limbs, I know of those things…..

*pause*

Just because I have not physically felt these things myself, doesn't mean that I have not seen it in others. You remember what job I'm programmed for, don't you?

*pause*

But the physical feelings aren't what I meant.......you've been frightened before.....

What does it feel like mentally....emotionally to be scared?

*pause*

I could do all the research in the world, be shown physical, even chemical reactions to what happens to a human when they're scared, but mentally, psychologically, emotionally.....there is no amount of study that will grant me that knowledge.....

*pause*

There are different facets of fear, yes. Surprise, suspense, foreboding. I know what they are, but that still doesn't tell me--

So the emotional reactions guide the physical reactions. It's as if your brain is screaming 'No' continually, recognizing danger and forcing your body to react instinctively instead of rationally or with logic.

The animal, 'Flight or Fight' response. I see.

Forgive me, I didn't mean to call you an animal......

The emotional stress of being harmed beyond repair......of....never making it out of the situation that you find yourself in......you cling to life.....

*chuckles* Humans are *very* good at wanting to stay alive…..

*pause*

I suppose we can continue that line of questioning another day…..

Halloween also seems as though it is the one night a year where humans can express their sexuality without fear of being judged or ridiculed. 

*pause*

That’s the reason for all of the ‘sexy’ costumes, isn’t it?

*pause*

At least, that’s what I’ve observed.

Humans are usually fairly restrained when it comes to expressions of their sexuality, so Halloween gives them an opportunity to be open about their sexuality or fantasies.

It also gives humans the opportunity to dress up in silly costumes and have fun, as they did when they were children. It often reminds them of simpler times, where responsibilities weren’t constantly hanging overhead.

Forgive me, I know you don’t like it when I talk about humans that way…...I’ll try to be less…..clinical? Is that what it is?

Is that what you’re going to dress up as? It looks….nice…..

Forgive me again, I don’t exactly know how I’m meant to respond, so I decided on ‘nice’.

It is nice though, well made….and executed.

Me? Dress up? 

I don’t understand. What would be the point of an Android dressing up for Halloween?

I wouldn’t get the same experience out of it than a human would, I don’t know why—

Oh, wait…..that wouldn’t be a good idea, that will cover up my LED and……

I, the Connor with you now would cease to exist. Physically anyway. The Police have multiple backup copies and new iterations of me waiting in case something happens to me in the field. The copy of my programming would be placed either into a new body or reconfigured all together.

I don’t know if I would be the same Connor after that……

I don’t understand, so there is a certain age cut--off when it comes to being allowed? I don’t remember seeing that law in any of my research or my Law Programming. Is this something that I should bring up to the Lieutenant?
