New video: The Punic-Sicilian Wars, the Siege of Syracuse
Long before Carthage and Rome faced off in the climactic Punic Wars for control of the Mediterranean, the island of Sicily played host to a series of seven great wars between the Carthaginians and the Greeks. In the First and Second wars, Carthage had gotten increasingly involved in the conflict and rose to dominate most of the island. Only the Greek city state of Syracuse stood in its way. In its darkest hour, Dionysius would rise to reforge Syracuse and fight back against the might of Carthage.
In this documentary episode, we cover the Rise of Dionysius and the ensuing Third Punic Sicilian War which featured the siege of Motya, the Battle of Catana, and the siege of Syracuse.
