[News] GIF frame interpolation updates: "Target FPS" mode / Preserving Alpha Channel / Bug fix
Added 2025-05-11 14:15:01 +0000 UTCFurther updates for the newly added GIF Frame Interpolation feature will be available in the next update:
1. GIF frame interpolation will support "Target FPS" mode, just like video. However, due to the constraints of the GIF format, some limitations will be put in place by default for compatibility; otherwise, the resulting GIF might be incompatible with most GIF players.
2. Preserving Alpha Channel after GIF frame interpolation:
An early experimental version of this feature will be available in the next update. Because the built-in video frame interpolation engine cannot handle the alpha channel, a workaround was implemented for this feature. For some GIFs, after frame interpolation with the Alpha Channel preserved, errors could be observed during playback due to this limitation.
3. Bug fix:
Previously, the playback speed of the interpolated GIFs could be a little different from the original. In the next update, they will be better synchronized with the original GIF.
Here is an example of a GIF with Alpha Channel, interpolated to 50 FPS with the Alpha Channel preserved:
