Hey Danger Dogs, I did a little write up on a gnarly, falling-apart rental property in the PM's own electorate (Grayndler) that went for an eye-watering $890/week, and snapped up by desperate renters in less than a week: https://rob.ditoro.net/posts/inside-grayndler-rental-crisis/

One thing I think was missed a bit in the coverage of the Purple Pingers story is how adverse possession of property works. I overheard some people discussing it at work who were concerned you could leave a place for like 6 months and suddenly someone else owns it. Which is not true, anyone can break into your property whenever and that's illegal. They have to live there for 15 years unchallenged to actually take ownership. A quick search will show that its often very very difficult to legally claim adverse possession. So if anything the reporting failed to point out how rare Squatting is and how little rights squatters have.
