They've seen and done terrible things in front of each other way before dating, that just comes with being in an adventuring party together. You bond very much when you almost perish, fight, eat, sleep, and go to the bathroom on a schedule while you adventure.
Birdie has a much high perception than Raff does, so he tries to be ever vigilant only for her to point out the people trying to ambush them like "hey lol are they supposed to be here" "OBVIOUSLY NOT"
