File Types n Sizes
Added 2024-10-08 21:45:00 +0000 UTCHey all! I just wanted to ask your opinion on file size and types when it comes to maps! As you know, I have been making larger and more detailed maps and admittedly it is QUITE difficult to keep file size down as a result.
Here I have a few choices!
Keep as it is, 140ppi JPGs
Reduce to 100ppi JPGs
Offer JPGs and WEBP
Just transition to WEBP

I primarily use 100ppi for use in roll20, but I can use webp if that is easier for you. Larger file sizes are unsuitable for VTT, but I understand the need for them for print. Other Patreons I back usually do three releases, a 100ppi for roll20, a 140ppi for foundary and a hi res print version. Hope that helps.

2024-10-08 21:53:54 +0000 UTCNoted! This is why I wanted to ask - my friend BirdieMaps exclusively does WEBP as they usually make 50x50+ maps like me and idk where my community sits with that :)

2024-10-08 21:52:47 +0000 UTCI don’t want webp as I cannot use such files for the programs that I use for TTRPGs
