Yeah, Bodiam is a basically symmetrical outer shell, with buildings ranged around the inside of the wall. Thought of another impressive one earlier (after driving past it) - Arundel Castle (although that has been remodelled somewhat). And for manor houses, Ightham Mote is excellent.

2024-09-19 18:43:43 +0000 UTCBeing in the castle and looking at the floorplans are kinda jarring because the halls feels large but the rooms are so tiny, especially the chapel area XD Krak des Chevaliers looks SO cool, and pretty dang impressive! Also I am down to make Bodiam castle at some point - looks relatively simple to make ^^

I also like peel towers, brochs (not really castles), and asymmetric castles like Krak des Chevaliers, where the shape is forced by the landscape.
