MiiCoffee Apex V2 Turin Legato V2 Gemilai CRM3007Z Smart Switch Installation

No warranty provided, your machine may be different, and you could break your machine by doing this.

Overview

Switch your machine on/off via your smart home (alexa/google/apple etc), so you can schedule it to preheat in the morning.

Note: I have wired the smart relay in parallel with the existing switch, for a few reasons. 1 - ease of installation, 2 - ensures physical power switch still works, 3 - the design of the PCB of the 3 buttons is such that the all 3 buttons share a single pair of wires to the main PCB, each button press reading as a different resistance (i think this is caleld a resistor ladder), so its not easy to isolate the power switch.

The upshot of this is that the smart relay app/your smart home app won't know if the machine is on or not, as the relay state is just reported as on when button is pressed (relay closed) and off when button is not pressed (relay open), not a huge problem, but useful to know.

Tools+parts needed

Philips screwdrivers

SONOFF MINI-D

Some wire for AC supply to SONOFF (heat resistant)

Some wire for power button signal (heat resistant, can be thinner gauge than the AC supply, thin single core probably easiest to get through pcb hole)

Small ring terminals x2

Wire strippers/cutters/crimping tool

Soldering iron, solder sucker/wick

Heatshrink

Steps

DISCONNECT MACHINE FROM POWER

Remove back and top of machine case

Solder 2 wires, one to each of the circled points (there may be conformative coating to burn through), put some heatshrink over if needed

Optional: sanity check, find where the button PCB ribbon cable connects to the main PCB, unplug it (there was some glue that was easy to remove for me), and measure resistance across the 2 shown pins while pressing the power button, confirm that you get the same reading when shorting the 2 wires you just soldered. Connect the ribbon cable back to the PCB.

Prepare 2 wires for SONOFF AC supply, attach a ring connector to one end of each wire

Neutral connection point for SONOFF AC supply (selected due to ease of access), pull back the rubber cover, remove screw, add one of your AC supply wires, and screw back together. Photo shows end result with original and new wire connected

Live connection point for SONOFF AC supply, unscrew, add the other of your AC supply wires, and screw back together

Connect the Live and Neutral wires to the L and N terminals on the SONOFF. Connect the 2 wires from power button to the NO and COM terminals on the SONOFF (doesn't matter which way around)

Connect machine to mains

Set up eWeLink app

Configure the SONOFF Switch Mode to Pulse Mode (Detach Relay disabled), go to Inching Settings, turn it on, set Inching to 0.5sec, Status Auto-off, Save

Try turn the machine on via the app

If all good, connect to your smart home ecosystem of choice
