Oof, my apologies on this being late. As you'll see, I had to create a lot of art for this episode and it's a double issue. I just couldn't bring myself to end this on (much) of a cliffhanger. I'm not that cruel! 😉
I won't say too much because a lot is revealed in this episode. But I really, really can't wait to hear what you think! ❤️

Mr. Xu indeed has a past that shaped him, and as you've speculated, he hasn't had an easy journey. We'll learn more about that in Phase 9 of Jack & Jill. 😊 Honestly, I really love the little connections between the different series. I'm trying to provide a sense of continuity and interrelatedness which, hopefully, makes the 'XUniverse' feel a bit more real. 😉 Regarding Mr. Ferris... you're in for a treat! There's certainly more to his story, and the dynamic between him, Mrs. Ferris, and Mr. Xu. I'm really, really looking forward to showing that in upcoming episodes!

Mr. Xu is more complex. He has told Davis that he's aiming for something else with these 'experiments' but that it would be unfathomable to Davis. Does Mr. Xu have morality? Good question. But he certainly has a code. I like Olivia, as well. I'll probably show her transition soon!

Would be a very interesting little side story to see Kenneth's perspective while his Ex childhood friend davis turns him into a beautiful woman and bride to be. I wonder what the other davis brother thats not involved (to our knowledge) in second dawn would think of his old friend Kenneth now. Such an interesting wrinkle in the story, thank you Emory for blessing us 🙌

2023-10-16 12:41:04 +0000 UTCAs for the issue of Mr. Xu's morality, I have not been so surprised, as in the J&J series you have already left little seeds where this "ethical code" can be appreciated. Evidently it is a very personal code and... let's call it nicely - 'different'. But as Bosmer recalls, Mr. Xu has a past (we speculated that he was born female and may have been forced to change).... I think with all the material in the various Emory series, it's clear that few characters are totally bad (at the moment only Davis comes to mind, though I don't rule out a backstory that doesn't redeem him, but at least his performances are understood... though I doubt it!). The rest of the villains can be labeled as 'grey' some lighter and some darker, as I said once, very G.R.R. Martin. As for the chapter, very good, as usual. I love the connections of the characters from the different series (Bella and the cunt, will they also have connections with Second Dawn?, now I don't remember if any mention has been made, I don't think so). And Mr. Ferris is a sweetie! I can't wait to see the interview between Mrs. Ferris and Mr. Xu and find out who is actually Mr. Ferris and know who bought him, what became of his life... come on, everything! hehehe. Until this chapter I always thought that Sofia hadn't really died... and even seeing the tombstone I still don't rule it out completely!🙄

A monster with morality, who would've thought??? And he seemed genuinely pained when Kaschak asked him about the pictures on his desk...see below. I never imagines monster like him, Hatcher & Davis having any humanity or morality left in them. Your writing skills are only exceeded by your art, Emory. I wanted to talk to you about some of my ideas, if you wish. Ideas which currently lack the skills to be made fruition, but NOT by you. Two of which is Mr. Xu expounding on the picture on his desk (J&J Ph.8 P. 16 panels 6&7) and the second a more detailed background of Olivia, like Brooke's. I will e-mail you more ideas when I get on Twitter for an interaction with Summer™© & Vienna©™ lover's spat in the middle of a ball in the grand hall. Awkward.

It's heartening to see you follow Sandy's journey so closely...But I know your soft spot for Nikki! 😉 But, yeah, I have to say, I quite liked Sandy donning her old thief's garb. She looked good in it in a way "Scott" never did. It's symbolic in a way, don't you think? Aaaa, the Sandy-Josh dynamic! Yeah, writing them is a balance between adorableness and a hint of tension. It's a lot of fun to write. LOL - the all-important question of love interests... Yeah, Xu;s morality is complex. He's always had his own unique moral compass. You might've noticed that Xu has (as far as we know) never harmed a woman, he's only ever stepped in to help, like with Angelo's wife. He was psychologically abusing her and was on the verge of getting physical. Now she is Angela. Also, yeah, Mrs. Ferris has made strides, but she still had her heavy-handed moments, especially in the beginning with Sandy. Tough love (as an excuse) only covers so much! As for Sandy's future, she's got a lot of exploring to do with her past and her identity. I think she likes Jessica, but she needs to fully understand her own journey, which of course includes her past with Josh. And as for the ominous Second Dawn, let's hope Sandy manages to stay off Xu's radar! Although if she keeps heading down this road, she may not have anything to fear from them. How much more feminine could she get? 😉

Mr Ferris is certainly now very attractive (maybe it sometimes pays to be bad). Sandy us as pretty as ever. Love the final scene if her walking away with Josh and irony of her ‘wearing the same clothes and how they still fit!’ It was also nice to see the earlier tension between Sandy and Josh ease and to see him him engaging in some humour. Curious to see where that relationship goes? Maybe Sandy will keep a foot in both camps and is bi? Interested to see where this potential love triangle goes. Thanks again for beautiful art work images. Greedily looking forward with great anticipation to the next glorious chapter.

2023-10-16 05:55:07 +0000 UTCWell Emory, you confound expectations again. That was a pretty wild narrative swing. Who’d have imagined Xu might have moral scruples? Only in his own twisted universe, of course. But it’s still satisfying to discover that Mr Ferris got his just desserts and lost them (!) at the same time, and that Mrs Ferris has genuine affection if not love for Sandy. Sounds like she’s also sorted out the whole bizarre replacement daughter thing too. So where does that leave us? Sandy needs to sort out her whole girl or boy conundrum, where she stands with Josh, whether she returns to Texas, if she does is she hetero or bi and how does she pick things up with Nikki, and will it be with Sis or Bro? Oh, and then there’s the whole dynamic with Nikki’s pathetic asshole of a father, the total bastard that is Zak’s father and the growing respect and affection for Zak himself. Meanwhile Sandy has managed to avoid any personal entanglements with Second Dawn, but given Nikki’s involvement and now that of Mrs Ferris, isn’t there almost an inevitability about it? Phew. Have I covered all the bases? Thanks for sparing us the cliffhanger. As you can see, I put the extra time for reflection to good use. Great chapter and I loved the way you conveyed both the anguish and fury in Mrs Ferris’ expressions. Very skilful. xx
