It is indeed teeming with character arcs and plot twists. 😂 The game isn't over yet. We'd need more than a simplistic board with checkered squares for this plot. It’s more like a 3D chess played on multiple boards at the same time. Jill, Xu, Davis, Ryan, Emily... each with their own moves to make, their own gambits to consider. Second Dawn might seem overpowering now, but remember, every sunrise follows the darkest of nights, and these characters, like you’ve so thoughtfully recognized, are nothing if not resilient. They’ve so much fight left in them! Your kind words about the art, the shadows, and the facial detail brought a wide smile to my face. Thank you so much! 💖

2023-06-26 22:12:40 +0000 UTCGosh Emory, sometimes it’s all too easy to forget just how many strands there are to this multi-faceted story. I reckon that your storyboard must resemble a massive spider’s web, which is not only sinister but highly appropriate. As this episode progressed I got a building sense of foreboding which was vindicated in the final half dozen frames, with Connor’s/Connie’s fate seemingly sealed and Jill’s father sailing right into the dragon’s jaws. I can’t help feeling that once those snap shut and Xu has the whole family in his control, that it could well be game over. Except that Jill, Ryan, Emily and a few others, including our indomitable artist and author, may have other thoughts on the matter. Once again, Emory, the art is outstanding, especially the use of shadow and the facial detail, but for me it continues to be primarily about the plot development and your exceptional skill at managing the psychological twists involved at every turn. It’s tremendous stuff. xxx

Super interesting how the plot is developing, all the pieces are coming together, both literally (the island is going to overflow hahaha) and the story itself. I've already got the popcorn and beer ready..... PS: Em, you have to change the episode header of the render, it's wrong, it's 22 not 21... it's a silly thing but it gives me "toc" to see it like that...😉

Can't help but feel bad for Connor. Wasn't the best dude, but nobody deserves that. It's cool seeing Jack's face in your newer style as well. The lighting in all the slides was awesome.

Madison thought that she was talking to "Jill" the whole time, but it was really Davis impersonating her the whole time. Like Dr. Hatcher said, Jill is very resourceful and clever to fool Davis with false information to respond to Madison. Madison caught onto to Davis' lies. Im guessing during the time while Jill was helping Ryan, Madison was talking to "Jill" aka Davis the whole time. She was about to contact Jack/Jill's father, but he's already gone. It's also it's surprise to see John Larson (Jack/Jill and Madison's father) for the first time. I still don't know about him, though. Don't get me wrong, he probably has more backstory coming in the next chapters about him decision leaving his family and treating Jack lesser than Emily, but it just seems too good to be true. There has to be more his reasoning than just getting his family back together. This part can go in multiple ways. Either, Holly or Xu wanted John to come to the Island intended as planned to help Jill escape or show him how Jack evolved into Jill. For Holly, she is a wild card from my perspective. She knows that Xu would 'depose of her' in replace her Jill, but wants revenge on him for what he has done to her, Jill, and the other victims. She would probably take John privately to discuss plan on take Xu down with Jill's help. For Xu, he probably has history with John long ago to get back at him through his son/daughter. I wonder how John would react to Jill appearance now.
