Image Quality
Added 2022-09-20 00:38:59 +0000 UTCThis is petty, but I'm obsessed with quality, so I wanted to mention I've noticed Patreon is now doing something weird with images.
They seem to be upsizing them for some reason, which is reducing the quality and making them blurry. It's easiest to see with text, but it's changing the rest of the image, too.
Hopefully this is only a temporary error, but if you want the full quality, you should download the PDF. 💖

Thank you, Rex! And absolutely you should download them. That's why I post them. I know everyone has different reading preferences. 💖

2022-09-23 09:07:03 +0000 UTCThank you, punarotta, for making me feel less crazy. 😊 This is the first I'm noticing the problem, so I feel like it has something to do with the "update" patreon implemented. They seemed to have broken far more than they fixed or upgraded.

2022-09-22 10:43:42 +0000 UTCI believe #3, including the files as an attachment with the little paperclip icon, is the only way to guarantee that you're getting the original, unaltered file. Even though the gallery saves as JPGs, they're usually a different file size from images downloaded from attachments.

2022-09-20 13:54:21 +0000 UTCThanks Emory, I normally d/l the pdf's and keep them in a file on my computer for later reference. I will continue unless you prefer I don't. It's just easier for me to view them that way rather than online. Thanks, Rex

2022-09-20 12:37:43 +0000 UTCNot petty at all - you are an artist and if tools corrupt your artwork then it is loss for all. Out of curiosity - does that happen always? As far as I can tell, Patreon supports at least three ways to directly provide pictures: 1) gallery within post (your updates usually) 2) embedded within text (like here) 3) attachment in the post. 1&2 show the image, 3 needs to be downloaded to view. 1&3 seem to provide original file (although if post contains both, downloaded file is not exactly same), 2 downloads as WEBP (which I'd assume is not the original format) fyi: Patreon android app has issues with big images - cannot be properly viewed in app but come correctly if downloaded (using app). Just saying, probably not related.
