Status Window Chapter 17 : Handling It at the Shop

17. Handling It at the Shop

"Ehehe. It's my card..."

Walking down the street, I gazed at my freshly made bank card. Made of silver, it had my name written on it.

And if I passed a little mana through it, transactions and account balance would be displayed. The bank card, unique to another world, had very convenient specifications.

"Fuffuffu, I became rich all of a sudden."

Looking at the account balance, the characters "600,000 Del" were written there. It's the money from selling 300 pencils and 300 erasers each. It's surprising that I got this much money with just that.

"Congratulations on your first transaction. Were you nervous?"

"I wasn't nervous at all. Anyway, I was totally hyped!"

"Is that so. Then that's good. Dad is happy to have seen the scene of Rio's first transaction."

Saying that, he patted my head. Being praised like that makes me shy, you know.

"What are you going to use that money for? Buying sweets?"

"No, I'm saving this."

"Rio is... saving money!?"

Dad seemed surprised by my words.

"My future isn't decided yet, but I think it's better to have money to broaden my paths. So, I'll save for the future."

Well, actually... that's just a pretext. The truth is I just like saving money.

Since saving money was my emotional support during my corporate slave days, seeing money increase makes me feel incredibly secure and gives me a sense of accomplishment. This unique pleasure can only be tasted through savings.

Of course, saving for the future isn't a lie either, but you can never have too much money. Savings are peace of mind itself.

Money... lots of money, happiness, becoming happy. Fuffuffu, I wonder what kind of money-making schemes I'll come up with from now on. I'm super excited.

"Ugh... To think that Rio is thinking about the future. Rio, you're amazing! Admirable!"

"Whoa! Don't get emotional and hug me over every little thing!"

Good grief, this Dad is always like this. I almost wish he'd let go a little.

Talking about such things, we arrived at our home-shop.

"I'm home!"

Entering through the shop entrance, Mom and Big Brother were at the counter.

"Welcome back. How was it?"

"Ehehe, it sold properly, and the transaction is done."

"Oh, isn't that amazing!"

"Phew, that's a relief..."

When I made a peace sign to show off, Big Brother praised me, and Mom stroked her chest looking relieved.

"Look, look. My account balance!"

"Let's see... Wha, it sold for this much!?"

"Ehehe, that's right. Plus, I plan to sell periodically from now on."

"Is it okay for you to have that much money? You won't waste it? Or suddenly buy high-class items?"

Ignoring Big Brother's surprise, Mom looked anxious. Well, I understand the feeling.

"It's fine! I won't waste it, and I'll save the money!"

"Can you really do it~? Won't you succumb to temptation halfway?"

"Should Mom manage that card for you?"

"No way! I'll manage it properly myself!"

If I hand the card to Mom, that's the end; I probably won't be able to use it freely until I become an adult.

"More importantly than that, let's record this transaction in the ledger."

"Ah, right. Gotta write it down before we forget. Let's see... this one."

Then, Dad brought out the ledger. Spreading the ledger on the counter, he prepared a pen and ink.

"I'll write it!"

"Rio will write it? Can you do it~? Can you even write characters properly?"

"How rude! I can write properly! Dad, tell me where to write!"

"Sure. First, in this column..."

Big Brother teased me while grinning, but I didn't care. Following Dad's instructions, I entered this transaction into the ledger.

"Okay, done! Is this okay?"

"Yeah, well done. Good girl."

Now I understand how to write in the ledger. From now on, if there's a transaction, I'll record it properly myself.

"Ah, regarding this sales money, I want part of it to go to taxes and part to be the shop's profit."

"Eh. You were thinking about that?"

"To think Rio would think about the shop...!"

"That's obvious! Because I also want this shop to prosper."

Since I sold it, taxes should be paid properly, and since I'm borrowing the shop's name, profit must be distributed too.

"Haa... So Rio has come to think about the shop too. That you, huh..."

"If Rio says so, it would be helpful if you did. Thanks for thinking about so many things."

Piron, a notification sound rang. Checking the window, Big Brother and Mom's favorability had gone up by one. Dad's didn't go up because his favorability was already MAX, so there was no room to rise, it seems.

Hmm hmm, it's nice that favorability goes up even for normal things. Raising favorability like this makes my opinions easier to pass, so I want to raise it aggressively.

"And then. Once pencils and erasers start being used at the Merchant Guild, I think talk will spread among merchants. Then, I think they'll surely come to this shop seeking pencils and erasers."

"Oh! In that case, will you sell them at this shop too?"

"Yeah! I'd be happy if you did!"

"If they're being used at the Merchant Guild, merchants are likely to come here eventually. In that case, I'll try putting them on display. Also, I'll casually recommend them to customers."

"Thank you!"

If we put them on display, people who learn the goodness of pencils and erasers will come to buy them. If we do that, money will come into the shop.

Fufufu, perfect. With this, the shop prospers too! My savings increase! Gahaha, I've won!
