im late to this but i honestly preferred HJ! i have no clue about technique but my main issue with HW is the usage of props and letting it be the focus of a performance. props are hard to work with and i understand that but i feel like the actual choreo wasnt focused on when creating his performance. it was simple and not thought out well. while HJ's was more beautiful and flowy. it matched what it was trying to portray. i'm also just a sucker for contemporary (massive jimin fan LOL) and tend to lean towards well-made contemporary dances over more powerful performances. but kpop is all power so ig its understandable that the kpop idols would choose what theyre familiar with. it kind of annoys me but you cant really expect much else.

2024-10-24 22:24:41 +0000 UTCI think like you said HJ was more technical but for me as unique as some of the lines and up down movements were for HJ, HW was more impactful and unpredictable for me. the feeling of the performance lingered more for me with that. I think the ink bursting and staining the shirt and the mystery of how it was done and how surprising it was put it over the top for a lot of people. HW came out of that Ace battle looking like he'd gone to war. :D

I don't know if you have heard of Stage fighter but it's a korean dance competition like streetman fighter but more focused on Ballet and Contemporary . Its would be so good to have your reaction on it. Have a nice day

2024-10-11 21:09:36 +0000 UTCI don't know anything about contemporary dance so I just judge by what was interesting for me to watch and it was Hwanwoongs performance. It was memorable and intriguing. I'll remember it till the end of the season and I already forgot Hyeongjuns performance even though I watched it few minutes ago. I don't mean to be rude and I'm sorry if it came out that way.

I think the ace from Cravity was better but, the tricks done by Oneus Ace, with the help of his teammate, distracted everyone away from the dancing. I think it would be nice if the Ace changed for the teams. I keep thinking that maybe there should be a rule where the ace can only be the ace twice, during the entire season. Some of the teams do not have a lot of members, so I think you need to be able to have repeat aces. I agree that this will flush out a team that has only one true ace always leading the team vs a team with multiple strong members.

2024-10-10 22:38:40 +0000 UTCcravity's performance is so addictive. even days after watching, the performance and song still plays in my head. i need hyeongjun to pull out his girls hiphop background at some point. i heard when he first wanted to learn how to dance he didnt know the differences between genres and accidentally signed up for 'girl hiphop' and so he learnt girls hiphop for 6 months which is why he nails girl group choreos so well. he even has a whole series on their youtube channel where he learns a really intense girls hiphop choreo as a project for himself. it was incredible to watch. he said he has learnt contemporary before but not in depth (probably at school like the other comment says). it seems like he's never actually shown his fans a full contemporary dance performance before and this is the first time. the votes seemed to be very preferential which makes sense

2024-10-10 08:07:35 +0000 UTCBoth Aces were great and I believe the guys preferred the powerful and artistic style of HW though. Maybe it's something they can relate to more since a lot may not be trained in contemporary like HJ.

2024-10-10 08:04:40 +0000 UTCI actually think Hwanwoong has better technique in general, i do know he can point his toes without problems though because I follow Oneus so I'm aware it's a style choice to give the dance a more primal feeling here. I don't know why but HJ's Dance gave me the feeling of a school assignment, not a performance. I watched a few reactions to it and asked a few of my dancers friends and most would have also picked HW so I feel less bad because I hate it when I can't really give an explanation WHY a performance simply didn't work for me π

The tension of the battle seems to have affected his ability... However, since Ace Battle votes on its own, it would have been difficult to think about the details because it did not go through the screen like us. As long as there is no overwhelming difference in dance, I think it is fully understandable that Hwanwoong, who left a big impact, won.
