New composer, four tracks!

Hey everyone, Michael here!

I’m thrilled to announce that we have a new composer joining our team—Miguel Abuel!

Miguel is an incredibly talented composer from Canada, and we’re excited to officially welcome him aboard. He’ll be working alongside Filip, helping with commissions and creating tracks for Patreon. Every 1-2 months, you’ll receive four amazing tracks from him.

Finding the right person for this role was no easy task. While there are many composers out there, the truth is that the industry can be very challenging and often lacks professional opportunities. Over the past months, we reviewed the work of at least fifty candidates. Many of them were very creative, but in audio, creativity alone isn’t enough.

Unlike other forms of art used in TTRPGs, music requires advanced technical skills—specifically in audio engineering. In fact, audio engineering expertise is often more critical than composition skills. Without strong technical abilities, even well-composed music can end up sounding low-quality. This is a common issue and one of the main reasons we’ve had to turn down many applications.

As for Miguel, his work came highly recommended by a member of our community. I had heard of him a few years ago but hadn’t revisited his portfolio until now. When Filip and I listened to his recent work, we were both blown away!

Miguel’s style has its own unique flavor, and that’s a great thing. His work complements Filip’s beautifully, giving you a wider range of tracks to choose from. You’ll find Miguel’s tracks fit perfectly in situations where Filip’s might not—and vice versa.

We’d love to hear your thoughts on this exciting addition to the team. Let us know what you think!

NB. We are preparing his profile on our "Our team" page on our website. I'll keep you updated once we have all his info ready, so you can know him better :)

Awesome news and welcome to this journey, Miguel! :) When you mentioned him in a previous post I went and checked him out on Bandcamp. I didn't listen to all of his stuff, but in his album "Songs of Sword and Sorcery" I particularly liked "The Monk and the Latin", "The Deadlands", and "7th Tankard". Great stuff! The 4 tracks in this release are a great addition to our audio libraries. I especially love "Daggers in the Dark"...what a great, low-intensity combat track! The reverberating strings (I think?) really sell this piece. And "Shantytown Shenanigans" is a wonderful piece for all sorts of roguish shenanigans. I envisioned a rooftop heist going on when I listened to it. Very nice job on these, Miguel! :)
